Well the gt350 made a 1.2 sec faster lap and was .2 quicker in the 1/4.

But the z28's tires looked pretty beat. It's the MT long term z28.

If you are satisfied with a new tire comparison vs used tire comparison - yes the GT350R is the better handling car. I think you know the members here who will be all about the numbers recorded in this test.

If you believe that new tires to new tires should be tested, then it's somewhat up in the air, but I will still lean to the 350R in this case, as the Z/28 was the benchmark to beat, so I don't see Ford releasing a car that isn't at least marginally quicker on a road course.

Cliff's:

Ford camp: GT350R smoked that Z/28!

Chev camp: Used tires suck, unfair comparison!

Rest of us: Too close to call, but should still go to the 350R with tire wear being equal.

Last thought: the standard GT350 would get smoked by even a Z/28 with used tires, in the same way that some are saying this 350R smoked the Z/28 in this comparison.

Put the Z28 R against the GT350R and let's see who wins that.

What does a non-street legal full road course car have to do with the GT350R? A better statement would perhaps say - "I wonder how GM will respond with a 6th gen Z/28?"

But Doug, I thought you were all about same car/same day when comparing two cars? No other way is accurate, right?

At least offer an intelligent response...

The Z/28 R's competition is the GT350R-C

And no, neither car is legal for road use - which is the complete opposite of the cars in this thread.

Well it looks like the z28s tires were whipped. In there long term update the front had the cords come out of one. This happened after the comparison. You may have to look around on the link but there are pics there of it.
