Thats just a copy from MM&FF. Guess they were short on material. Actually, the first couple of paragraph's speak volumes for the ls1

That actually makes LS1s look better. Poor Ford guys:

Owners of LS1-powered GM cars have become boastful braggarts these days and rightfully so. Even in naturally aspirated form, these engines are terrors from the factory and adding a head and cam package can easily send them to the 500hp mark with the simple turn of a ratchet. You can't do that with any stock small-block Ford, so most of us depend on forced induction to get the job done.

e're about to take our covert little '90 Mustang GT, drop in a state-of-the-art short-block and turn it into a mind-bending LS1 murderer
Yeah, lemme take a 15 y/o car, drop in a powerful engine, let it not weight **** THEN talk about how its going to whallop a brand new car. Pfffffft. This is the one reason I cant stand Fox Body guys. There are some good one's, but the majority of them think like this. Lemme build up a ZL-1 clone, slap some turbo's pushin the same boost as that car, then we'll talk about who's got a real engine

I guess it's like this "whenever your down and out, throw a lotta money at the problem"
That buildup looks like it would be HELLA expensive for mr joe average to afford. all that to kill an ls1 with headers\cam. so sad.
Headers for ls1: 400-600 bux
Cam for ls1: roughly the same. possibly 250-400

That mustang buildup. EASILY 10k. I've never seen or heard of ANY place that will balance and blueprint before. i couldnt immagine it being cheap.

These Ford guys are beggining to sound like ricer's. "Let me get my supercharger and do a total rebuild on my motor and sink about $10gs in my car then will race." My reaction to that is "well let me put a blower on a sink $10gs in my car to. You know that's only fair." Then you will get this reaction and "well well huh I don't know" What's the saying. Theres no replacement for displacement.

Lingenfelter will B&B with some of their engine packages. Of course, if you can afford these packages, they damn well better be B&B'd

Just playing devil's advocate here but check this thread: https://ls1tech.com/forums/racer-s-lounge/288725-n-306-ford-goes-9-56-motor.html

For the record I have no brand loyalty, if its badass and not rice I like it

Sorry, but I'm having trouble following your logic here. I'm one of "those" Fox body guys. Last time I checked adding hp + dropping weight or already having a lightweight car = a pretty quick car, and isn't that the whole point? This is what people have been doing for years and years.

And it doesn't take $10k to build up a 302 based block that can outrun *most* LS1s. I know.

I think its a rather complimentary article toward the LS1 and that 331 kit looks pretty stout to me.

I know what you mean, in the MM&FF mag when they test the Mach 1 and GTO against each other they were complementing the GTO's power and smoothness. The crew at MM&FF usually rate fairly

I just don't compare FI cars with NA cars. Apples to oranges. But the fact that our engines don't need FI to beet a FI SBF I say to MM&FF... How you like dem apples?
