Default Not To Be Outdone, Jeeps Answer To The Trailblazer SS

Scroll down. The Grand Cherokee SRT-8 will hit 60 in under 5 seconds according to DC. Seems a little optimistic to me, Me thinks that someone may have meant to type under 6.0 seconds rather than 5.0 because if it's true, it smacks the hell out of GM's 5.7 second estimate to 60 for the TBSS. I think a road test is in order. I'd like to see a shootout between these two Detroit born Brute Utes for sure.

By under 5.0 seconds they probably mean 4.9. With over 400bhp from a 6.1litre I would suspect that a 4.9 0-60 is feasible.

Damn, wouldn't that be nice...a 390+ hp offroad vehicle. Forget gas prices- you can never have to much hp!

The Trailblazer and Jeep would have a 30 horsepower difference. Maybe the Trailblazer has a real slush box and the Jeep has the Benz 5 speed?

it's interesting to see that "officially" they say the srt8 charger will be "in" the 5 second range and the srt8jeep will be "under" 5, but the jeep weighs 600 pounds more....the jeep does have 4wd though.....i think perhaps the wording is such because they want to make it clear that it's quicker than the turbo porsche or the bmw suv, i don't know....i do know that dcx has made it a habit to give estimated numbers on the safe side for the last few years. i guess time will tell

Power from the SRT 6.1-liter HEMI is sent through a special torque converter to an SRT-upgraded A580 five-speed automatic transmission. Torque is then sent to front and rear differentials through a specially designed transfer case.
whatever that means

this is kind of cool, but i'm pretty used to my camaro's 2.5 inch water fording capabilities:
Engine breathing was increased with new higher-flow cylinder heads, a specially designed intake manifold and fresh-air induction system (which allows water-fording capability of up to 19 inches), and exhaust headers with individual tubes encased in a stainless steel shell.

"the SUV retains a strong towing capacity of 3500 pounds"

What the hell is strong about 3500 pounds?

The Trailblazer SS is rated at 6500(2wd) and 6300(awd)

With gas near 2.50 you can't have to much MPG either.
