The Z06 will dominate a stock Shelby. Power will be very easy to make though. I'm talking 600rwhp no problem for very little money.

No chance a stock GT500 will hang with a Z06. It just won't happen. The Shelby will be a fast car and it will be easy to mod though. The two cars are in totally different classes IMO. The Z06 is a supercar. The Shelby is...well, a Mustang.

unit ,you couldnt have said it any better. The shelby will be a great car but stock for stock the Z will beat it.
By the way my stock 03 ran 12.6 @113 with only 360 rwhp so the new one with a good driver "should" run low 12s or even a high 11.

Considering the magazines could only get a 13 flat out of an 2003 Cobra, I think mid 12s for the Shelby is fantastic. As we've seen with both the C5 Z06 and 03 Cobra, good drivers can knock off a half second from magazine times. The Shelby is going to be easy to modify fo some amazing RWHP numbers.
Personally though I'd rather have a Z06, the last year with the M3 has taught me the joy of a great handling car, and I have to say I'm more interested in the Z06's Nurburing times than drag times

The price tag of the Z06 pretty much seals the deal for me. $75K is just too much for a car IMO. Mid 60's and I'll seriously consider it.

I'm going to go more towards the New Shelby GT500 being tuned for some better track handleing. That was Shelby's expertese. He made Cars quick thru good handleing and pure brute force. So it'll probably be decint in the Quarter but will handle better in turns.
EDIT. I was saying that the new GT500 is designed more for Handleing than straight Line. It still won't compete with the new z06.

Ford said the Shelby 500 will have the same power to weight ratio as the Corvette...not the Z06. And I believe the new Vettes run in the mid 12's, which is right around their result numbers.

And Hey, I thought my Trans Am was pretty darn good handler until I bought my M3. Sort of shifts your entire perspective. (then again I think my M3's low 13 scond at 107mph times are pretty slow too, which comes from American muscle shifting my perspective on what's "fast" )

I read it on corral i believe, i think it was a car and driver test. Is the official pricing out on the zo6 yet, i heard there will be a base version in the 60 with less accesories, and a loaded model which runs low 70s???

"Around 75k" for the Z06. At least what I've seen in print.

The 5.4L in the Shelby is just a lower boost version then the one in the GT correct? All they have to do is turn up the boost to GT levels and they'll have 550rwhp. I can't wait.
