I watched the race, I'm all for improving safety for the drivers - but the COT with the splitter & wing (not to mention Toyota) is going to drive away long time fans. I'll watch until football starts...

Actually, I think he said, " It sucks! " when he got out of the car he just won the race with.
I like the way the splitter actually "splits" ... more cautions...

Yeah he said it sucked i laughed when i heard his comment. But did you guys see Jeff Gordon he went from the Pole to far back in the pack and back to 3rd at the end of the race. But yeah i think the car is **** as well, i rather they develop better safety systems for the current car rather than "the flying brick" as said by Tony Stewart.

How many rear tires did that splitter deflate? What the hell does a wing have to do with safety? They said that the COT was all about safety yet it has more features with nothing to do with safety. Tony Stewart said it best "We are stuck with it"!

The one thing I did notice about it: Usually at Bristol and Martinsville , the cars resemble prunes afterward from getting beat and banged, most were still pretty clean after the race . Still think the concept is stupid but maybe they know something we don't.

I hate the car, i think it looks like ****. Tony Stewart made a good point if its going to be the Car of Tomorrow, then have it look like the car of the future. It looks like the regular car but with a shopping cart wing and front splitter that eats rear tires for breakfast.

I expect that from the #24 team.
That race was Tony's though, I can't believe they use that cable for the fuel pump now.
I'm all for safety, but geez. ( that cable looks weak... )
You know I think more people would watch if NASCAR had real cars in it.
>>
Hmm, I thought NASCAR already tried that one.
If my wife says anything else durring the up coming race about how good the #9 is doing , I might just have to ...
Gotta be on the last lap to have a chance to win...babe
I guess this thread will be closed soon, maybe someone should start a post for this weeks race.
Enjoy the last of this years NASCAR, of " Back in the day. "

As far as the general shape...they actually look more like what they used to race in the 80s (and they didn't complain nearly as much about the cars back then, did they?)
It hasn't been "stock car" for well over a decade. Nothing in sports car racing in the prototype classes is "stock" either.
If you want it to be stock car...make the manufactures use replicated bodies of production vehicles with the same suspension pick up points (just like the factory GT categories of sports car racing). Allow minor aero aids.
I'm not entirely sold on the front spliter or the wing, but racing is about innovation, and on a "stock car" they are innovative. How long have they been with the old cars? When was the last time that NASCAR had a complete car overhaul? Look how much faster those cars got over the years. At least now we'll see some innovation happen again, and that, IMHO, is what the sport has always been and always will be about.
It will be interesting to see how these cars do @ Talladega in the fall. They look like they'll be more draggy which should hopefully allow the officalls to mandate a bigger plate and give them more horsepower.

But it figures/fits, they let TOY in and make the cars look like a riceboy's wet dream.

It seems alot of the drivers say the COT doesn't turn in as well as the " old car ", The only reason NASCAR would open the plate is to get the speeds back up to compensate for the "drag". IMO
I might have to compare the lap times from last year against this years ( Talladaga ) to see if turning is an issue with the COT.
Even if they open the plate up some, I still think there could be a cornering issue that might make the lap ET higher with the COT.
Anyhoo...

Just my 0.02 cents...
