well people say the stock shifter blows but I dont have a problem with it. many say it is like driving a totally different car. as far as the warranty goes its the same as anything else, they have to prove that the shifter affected whatever broke on the car directly. obvioulsy the shifter wont explain the seat belt not working(bad comparison but you know what i mean)

a lot of people like the katech, b&m and UUC. I dont think there is much different b&m is the least expensive i think. if you do a shifter just remember to get the 20 dollar UUC bushings

I have the katech and had the tranny replaced and they didn't say anything.
UUC: feels most like stock but still feels much better. Most money
Katech: Feels great and still doesn't make cabin noise. In the middle on price
B&M: most positive feels but transmits cabin noise. Cheapest.

My Katech feels awsome, cars still quite as far as shifter noise is concerned. Any choice is a good one.
