Default Picked up an 04 CTS-V

I just picked up an 04 CTS-V a few weeks ago that has 38,000 miles on it. The rear end bushings have been upgraded and i have had all the fluids flushed. The car is my DD and I'm not looking to beat the hell out of it so I'm not that worried about the wheel hop. What else should I be looking into or concerned about.

I would check the rear diff, just to see what gen you have back there.

since you said you are not going to beat the hell out of it, if it is a older diff, you may get more life out of it. but there is still the chance that it could fail.

If you dont beat the hell out of it, bang gears or launch it . The chance of the diff failing are slim.

Theres a thread on the other forum and about 40 guys have a gen 1 diff with no issues, there was a few with over 100k.

If you want to race and slam gears then thats a diffrent story.

i am not saying the diff will fail...but its still a possibility. some of the diff failures out there were guys in 6th gear coasting done the freeway. you just should prepare yourself, just in case it does go.

Motor mounts are a big deal with these cars too. Atleast that's what I gathered from looking around on the forums.

Yes sir. If I'm not mistaken, I think they are liquid filled.

And when they go bad, the fluid runs down onto the bottom of the oil pan and drys out. It looks like coffee stains.

i got the coffee stain on my starter...haha

i wouldnt wait for warranty or the stock to go bad. just go a head and update them. UUC or CS makes some good mounts, but the CS ones are starting to have a lot of issues. and from what i heard, the CS guys are going back and doing more R&D to get batter mounts on the market
