Default won't start, what to check?

Hey guys,

Went out to go to lunch & my '05 V won't start. Started up just fine this morning & got me to work.

Battery is 12.4 volts, says ok. I seem to have power to everything. Turn the key & nothing. Doesn't turn over, doesn't click.

Sound like the starter? Or is 12.4 not enough juice? Battery is barely a month old. I don't think I left anything on this morning when I parked.

Thanks!

Yep....sometimes they just roll over and die with no warning. I agree with StageUp.

+1 on the starter

Happened to me also, warranty FTW! Dealer replaced it with a much more quiet model which was an added bonus.

Default thanks guys

Thanks guys,

I jiggled the battery cables & got it to start.

Found a wrench & made sure the cables were tight & it started once more, but that was it. Wouldn't start again.

Battery tested good & no codes.

Push started it & it's at the dealer now.

Yeah either clutch start switch, starter relay, or starter/solenoid itself. My 07 with 35k just had the starter go out. Dealer couldn't get one same day and had to overnight it from god knows where. The one they replaced looked slightly different but it works fine now. I'm happy.

Default update

Hey guys,

Just an update.

Turned out to be an intermitant open on the starter solenoid.

Dealer repaired the connection rather than replace the connnector or starter.

Connector was not melted, but "deformed" from heat.

While searching I found a few similar issues that others have encountered.

Anyhow, the car starts up fine now!

Have a good weekend!
