Default What type of pistons are in the CTS-V calipers?

Doug Rippie sells stainless steel pistons for the C5/C6 and C6Z calipers. The stock pieces are apparently aluminum. Can anyone confirm what type of piston the CTS-V calipers have? If not stainless steel, would either of these parts be compatible with the CTS-V calipers?

I believe Brembo does use SS. The Z06 doesn't use Brembo calipers.

Aluminum. I just did my brakes yesterday and when I was prying the pistons back, I noticed I dinged one of them.

That's interesting. I've got a junk rear caliper that I can tear apart. I've been wrong before though.

I'd say the bores are bore important than the pistons. Is there a liner in there or does the seal ride on an aluminum bore?

If you were to replace aluminum with stainless, just keep in mind the different expansion rates of the materials, when you machine them, etc...I imagine a good shop will do this, but if you were to do this yourself, etc...doubt this is a big consideration, but maybe it takes a little more hydraulic 'power' to move SS vs. alum. Probably not, though on such a small movement.

Yeah the backs are aluminum and they also look hard chrome plated. Most likely just for a little more durability.

2-stroke dirtbike cylinders are chrome over aluminum, and it's very durable.
