Default Help me out guys

I just bought a really nice 2006 CTS-V. Its being shipped to me as we speak. I did some research, but appearently not enough. My question is, what motor is in the 2006 CTS-V.? And is it supercharged.

Ok, I just saw what I was looking for. I was searching the motor for the CTS-V and somehow got to a page for the STS-V, and saw that it was a 469 HP Supercharged motor. Man, I was getting excited. Damn, Im gonna have a slow car arent I. What can I do, I dont wanna spend $7k + to get some power...

Well to be honest, Ive never paid too much attection to the Cadi world. I was just recently turned on to them. But, this is gonna be a work car and I found this car with hardly any moles for less then $18K from a lady in mint condition, so I jumped on it. Then I started to wonder what I could do to it. My intentions was to leave it stock, but I cant leave anything stock so now Im researching.

What part of Houston are you in?

I live off HWY 59 and 99 just passed Sugar Land.

I'm rolling in a 05 CTS-V. Love this car.

Spending cash to make a 1st gen V a 10 second car? hmmmm... there are much better platforms for that. You'd need to spend 5-7k on the rear alone so that it could handle the power and get it to the ground.

Stock? I don't think so. They're not faster than the SRT-8s or the G8 GXP either...

If you guys are buying these cars to be stop light to stop demons, you are buying the wrong platform.

Sure, throw enough money at anything and it'll be faster.

These cars shine in the twisties. Massive brakes, good balance, IRS ... it's all about stopping and turning IN CONJUNCTION WITH acceleration.

To think about 10's you need the Gforce rear package for $5500. Rear, half shafts and drive haft. Then you can build the engine and go for 10's.

this x2

the best time i have seen for the V1 (04-07 Vs) is upper mid 11s on stock rear diff. with a couple getting to 11.2ish on prefect runs.

for 7 grand, you can do full exhaust, short shifter (a must do if yours is still stock), new clutch and and LW Fly, intake and cam. with that you will be look 400-420 WHP/400-410 WTQ (IMO)

Actually they are faster then SRT-8's and the Auto G8 GXP's.. I've also murdered the 2010 auto Camaro SS and pulled good against the M6 camaro SS stock for stock...

5-7k on the rear.? Hell no, Id get a built 9" installed for $2400 and be bullet proof, and I can do the complete LS3 top end with a sick cam and tune and be 500 rwhp. Ive done this 4 times on the LS2 motors, with the slowest being 515 rwhp. And the whole package (Ported and polished LS3 heads, titanium valve trai, cam, LS3 intake and throttle body and a nice tune for $4000. And thats on the high side

built LS3 is a nice route. but you can also stroke out the LS2 and forge the bottom end for a little less.

one thing to keep in mind with this car is the Cadillac tax.
