The LS7 clutch is a good option. Drives like the car should have come from the factory.

Yeah I'm hoping to do the full ls7 clutch/slave/flywheel from Lindsay Cadillac... Everyone seems to love them and it's a good fit if you're looking for comfort, no clunk, and stronger than stock. I think they sell the entire kit for around $635 and all that needs to be done is to notch the bellhousing slightly to reuse your existing bleeder valve.

If you buy a remote bleeder, I highly suggest you do, you dont have to notch anything. Just snake the bleeder out the hole and secure it somewhere.

if you dont like the 635 bucks for the ls7, you wont like the price of aftermarket clutches that you would want.

monster stage 2 is a great clutch from what i hear and many of the twin discs drive great compared to the puck style heavy duty clutches. all of the twin discs are north of $1k. the monster is over 700 i believe.

yeah the ls7 is actually a nice deal for the entire kit.... plus most dealers would still cover it under warranty since it is a gm part.

Does the LS7 provide a near factory clutch pedal feel? I realize the driving experience would be different with the 'lighter' flywheel, but don't want something that is going to test my leg everytime I depress it, lol.

My vr-4 is like that with its aftermarket clutch and wow is that thing stiff! It'll hold all sorts of power, but wondering if the CTS' aftermarket choices are the same way. It gets old pretty quick having a stiff and sensitive (engage like 1/2" above the floor position)! So, hence why I'd be curious how "friendly" the LS7 upgrade would be.

Guys...everyone has their own opinion on clutches, but let me be the first to tell you that a light flywheel, like a billet one, is going to suck in your car unless you drive in the higher RPM range. I am not sure how heavy the LS7 is, or if it is an iron flywheel or what, but these cars are heavy. You want the extra interia to get the car going. I loved the Monster Stage 3. It was perfect. Clutch feel was like stock.

Who ever told you that you would get +30 HP is a bone head. True the engine will spin up faster and net you some, but 30....

For what it is worth, I would NOT recommend an 18 lbs flywheel in this car. Again, not sure what the LS7 is, but I am guessing around 22-24, but that is the lightest I would choose. The LS7 will feel just like the LS2, and LS6 clutch..maybe slightly heavier. I would get the monster though for the extra money...the clutch is butter.

you wont see a 30 hp gain from a clutch swap.

when you go with a LW Fly, you will see anywhere +5 to +15 depending on the flywheel weight. with the 18 lbs fly from Monster, i was told i would see about a +12 rwhp. and this was by the guys at SNL Performance.

LS7 is the best alternative to the Monster/Spec/any aftermarket set up.

LS7 with flywheel will run you around 600 to 700 bucks. but you can find them cheap on ebay every now and then, 500 for both. if you do go aftermarket, i know a Monster Stage 2 with 18 lbs fly will cost 775ish.

I went with the ls7 and love it. Its proven to hold 500 lb-ft in the z06. As long as your power levels are modest, its the cheapest, most streetable option.
