Default 05 CTS-V vs. 05 SRT-4

A buddy and I ended up next to eachother while I was heading back to work from getting gas and he was heading home from work. We desided to line them up in Mexico and see how his car would do.

I was in 1st gear at 30mph. I counted to 3 with my fingers out the window, took the hit on 3 and jumped out about 1.5 cars, shifted to to 2nd and pulled another 2 cars and ran it up to the top of 2nd and had a solid 3 cars on him when I shifted into 3rd and shut it down..

All and I his car sounded great and I LOVE the sound of his turbo when he pulled back up next to me. Not sure what's his mods are, but I know that he's pretty close to stock. We'll run again when we can go all out! I also what to get a few dig runs in next time...

Lol, id prolly only take it up to the top of 3rd as its no fun to race when no ones around... he's gonna let me drive his car since I've never driven a turbo car before. I'm enterested on how to brake boost his car once I drive it.. lol

When i had an 89 mazda mx6 gt turbo, it was the most fun car ive ever driven, those boosted 4 bangers can be a blast to drive especially for an everyday car.

I ran an SRT4 once. Of course he started making excuses at the light on the offramp afterward though. lol And that was at elevation where the boost is a huge advantage (I'm at 6100 feet here which suuuuccckkksss).

I traded an '09 Cobalt SS Turbo on my '05 V.

The SS had 260 hp stock, but with a Trifecta Tune it was pushing close to 300hp(22psi). I never ran mine down the 1/4 mile, but others reported that with just the tune, it was a mid to low 13 second car at 107-109mph. Lack of traction being the only thing from going quicker. Though with those trap speeds, it would give a stock V1 a run for its money - especially from a roll.

I admit it did run damn good with the tune, but that was about the best part of the car. The rest was still a Cobalt... I don't care how fast the turbo 4 bangers can go, I prefer a real car.

haha. i test drove a SS/TC and it was a blast to drive. but the rest of the car didnt make up for that. i am glad i went with the V, nothing beats the sound of that V8 rumbling done the road.

Edit: Aaron, you still look like Justin Bieber, and your car is the color puke. haha good kill bro.

Funny thing is the SS/TC ran an 8:22 around the 'ring, which is only 3 seconds slower than the V1...

Are they directly comparable times? Initially GM was running cars from a stop, no flying lap. When they got serious about the times compared to competitors they started doing the flying lap. It was in some of the videos of the new V or ZR1 where one of the test engineers/drivers was talking about that. So it's possible it would be a few more seconds slower if the Cobalt was a flying lap and the V1 was not.

That said, the performance and economy of some of these cars like the SS, Mazdaspeed 3, SRT-4, etc, is impressive. However, the FWD seems to pay zero dividends in terms of all-weather abilities.

In my eyes the fact that our fat *** V's are faster then a lighter more nimble car is badass.. and in the racing word 3 seconds is a huge gap..

its ok...when my 6 liters of fire is up to my goal, you will need every bit of that laughy gas to keep up. but then again, i think i can run better then the 13.2 you did the last time you when done the 1/4 with my 357/370

but then again, by the time i am done...you will be in your LSx Fox

Edit: Aaron, sorry for the thread jack, but your car is retarded. haha .
