Default headers for maggied v1

hey guys i want to get some headers for the v. i know kooks are the best, but not in the budget for sure. it will be between PACESETTER CERAMIC COATED and OBX STAINLESS STEEL.

both are almost the same price and i know stainless will last longer but...wouldnt the ceramic coated ones keep under hood temps way down, therfore less heat sok for the maggie? does this make sense to anyone else. i know the pacestters are 1-3/4 primaries vs obx 1-7/8, but that shouldnt make a real difference untill the 600rwhp range right?

any thoughts would be appreciated guys

you could always coat the OBX ones too. which runs a couple hunder bucks if i remember correctly.

and yes, coating will keep the steel temp down, and therefor keep you under hood temp down at well.

go with the 1 7/8 no doubt. so obx is your only choice. id save for kooks but thats just me. not that theyll make more power but the quaility may be a bit better and they have been proven to fit much better and have shown the quality of materials.

I called pacesetter and inquired if they coat both inside and out. Pacesetter 'Armor Coat' is only the outside, not that effective.
keep that in mind

Pacesetter with flange extensions will bolt up to stock or aftermarket exhaust, OBX will require fabrication. You could always just wrap the OBX's to keep temps down. Just my $.02.

+1 on the 1-7/8".

If you weren't putting a maggie on, then 1-3/4" would be fine.

so i guess obx are the ones to get. wrapping them is a good idea as well. doesnt look that good but you cant see the headers on our cars anyways, and i wont be bringing it to any car shows and poping the hood, thats for sure.

i already have the maggie installed and a corsa exhaust and the cats have been removed so i can have a muffler shop just piece in the rest. so as soon as my lt1 parts sell, ill bee oerdering the obx's. i would love to buy kooks but way to exspensive. if anything id rather get the obx and pay $250 and have them coated and have the best of both worlds and still have money left! thanks guys.

Troof.

And OP I can't quote the thread but a guy (another board) did a back to back comparison between 1 3/4 and 1 7/8 with all the same mods in the same day blah blah (It was a legit test). Anyhow the difference was minimal between the two...

In other words I wouldn't worry about it.

thats all fine until you wanna do good flowing heads or a bigger cube motor. Youll see the difference the more you do so for the same price why not go 1 7/8 and never have to worry about leftover power?

True and as you go for more HP it costs a lot more so I see your point of starting with 1 7/8". However for most guys that aren't looking to squeak out every last bit of HP I think the 1 3/4 price savings will do just fine.

Here is that thread I was talking about. In the end it comes down to whether the possible future plans are worth the cost of going 7/8 to start with. Personal decision.

Most people who get kooks jam them onto 2 1/2" stock exhaust, corsa or magnaflows so I doubt you'd see much more hp available.
3" B&B FTW!!!!
