Default 04-07 CTS-V (competitive driving mode selector) option or standard ?

Was the competitive driving mode selector an option on the 04-07 CTS-V or was it standard all years?

standard, only options for 04-07 V's were sunroof, wing, and upgraded shocks. EVERYTHING else was standard.

Thanks for the fast reply. What were the optional shocks or should I do a search?

Actually and in fact, in 2006 the ONLY factory option was the Infrared paint for $999. Everything else was standard. Shocks are dealer add ons and not considered "options." I think this is listed in Edmunds.com, but I own a red 06 and know it to be true!

FG2 shocks were dealer installed, but they were a factory option. If ordered with them, the RPO code "FG2" appears on the car's Service Parts Identification label, even though the shocks are just in a box in the trunk. It's called a "Regular Production Accessory". The carbon fiber engine bay stuff was also this type of option, code "WF2".

Other options for 2006 were the sunroof delete, W-rated summer tires, and an engine block heater. Infrared was an extra cost paint, though I don't generally consider paint a factory option. All the cars have it.

Does "competitive mode" show on the DIC screen when it's activated?

So the FG2 shocks were an option from the factory and from the dealer? What do you mean the shocks were in a box in the trunk? Do you mean the dealer had to install them since the factory didn't? I would assume that is why they are in the trunk.

Do you have any details as to what the carbon fiber accessories were?

So there is only two ride control options, NORMAL and COMPETITION ? When in competition mode, is the stability control on or off, or is this another selector that needs to be turned off or on?

There are 4.
1. TCS and Stability on
2. TCS off Stability on
3. Competition mode which is TCS off and Stability greatly reduced
4. Everything turned off

Push the button once and TCS goes off. Push twice within 5 secs and it goes into comp mode indicated on the nav screen. Hold for 5 secs and it turns both completely off.

Highly disagree. FE4 feels supple and relaxed. It's pleasant, but it also felt too soft to me. FG2 feels just right. Crisp, but still compliant enough over large bumps. Of course, on perfectly smooth roads (which are completely foreign to me) it WOULD be harder to tell the difference just driving around. Anyway, I highly recommend them. If anything, the car could use a bit more spring rate (stock is 70 N/mm front and rear), but the shocks alone make it feel so solid and planted.

As a slight aside, I don't mind the stock roll stiffness. The steering ratio is also on the slow side. But all of this combines into a package that feels progressive right up to the limit. It's not one of those cars that you jump into and it immediately feels sporty. Rather, it feels fairly normal. But as you enter the corner, keep turning the wheel, and if the corner is increasing radius, feed in the throttle, and it will keep rewarding you with bite, until the rear begins a steady rotation. The FG2s probably help with this and I love it. With overly quick steering and stiff anti-roll bars, the limit wouldn't be nearly as approachable, though it would fool some people.

The story with the FG2s, by the way, is that they were actually the shock calibration selected following the Nurburgring testing. As such, I actually refer to them as "the Nurburgring shocks." However, after development, and setting the times, Cadillac realized they would be too firm as the standard shock. So the base FE4s were created. In other words, only the FG2 gives you 100% of the design intent of the car. FE4, by the way, is the entire suspension RPO code. FG2 shocks are just a replacement for the base FE4 shocks. The rest of the suspension is still FE4.

If anyone knows otherwise, please correct me. This is my understanding.

I've seen them on Ebay and Craigs at times. My buddy picked off a brand new in box pair for $400!!! those deals don't come around too often, though. There was a pair for about 2 mos on Cadillacownersforum, but they were listed for $1000.

Mine won't do this. The modes I have available are:

TC & Stabilitrak on
TC off Stabilitrak on
TC and Stabilitrak off

Does this mean my DIC needs to be reflashed?

My attempt to turn on competitive mode is press TC button once then again 2 seconds later. TC light stays on. Maybe it's in comp mode, just not telling me on the screen? I haven't really had the chance to take a corner where I could tell the difference yet.

Yeah you need a reflash. Any dealer can do it. Be confident: not all are familiar with this.
