Default Wheels and Tires

OK,,,now that all you guys have done all the legs work,,,I am wondering just what is the biggest wheel and tire one can get under a 2004 v? I see back tires on 10" rims of 285-35-20 but no mention of the front wheel size. Also read somebody using 20"s and lowing the car an inch. I thingk the car needs some big fat shoes but that's just me. Anybody care to share? Also got my eye on some brake kits,,,buddy of mine grabbed some off e-bay from ERP (European Resource Performance) He seem happy with them,,,anybody ever heard of these guys? The been doing brakes for VW for a while. Anyways thanks,,, Brad

i tuck a forged 20x9 with a 245/30/20 invo in the front. rears are 10.5 285/25/20 with even more aggressive tuckage.

Tony's tire size is about the biggest you will fit in there with out having to a lot of modifaction to car (i.e a lot of body work and suspension changes).

For brakes, I have never heard of those guys, so I will not bash or praise them. But near as I can tell, the breaks for us stock are really stout. I just did a rotor and pad swap. But if you want to improve braking feel, Stainless steal break line will do the trick. If you really want to do a good big break swap, convert to 5 Lug and use the breaks from a ZR1 .

i guess i should have mentioned there's less than 1mm between the tire and a completely flat rolled fender.

Then yours are the biggest that will fit...haha. But I have seen a couple guys took 295s in there, granted not on a 10+ inch wheel.

Ahh...the joys of being slammed...

there's no way i can go 295, at least not tucking. the 295s i recall seeing on our car had a pretty large wheel gap if lowered at all. i already have very minor issues getting brand new 285s in there. when they're brand new and i drive aggressively, you'll see minor scraps on the sidewall of the tire (remember, the sidewall hides under the fender lol). lasts about 3 weeks i'd say. can't complain. going on 2 1/2 years on my rears and almost 3 on the fronts with a good 50% left up front and maybe 35% on the rears (i think, haven't checked in a while).

i had 275s, and when i lowered mine on H&Rs I have a minor rub on both rear...and yes 2 1/2 to 3 years is damn good for tires with aggressive driving.

well, i don't drive it aggressively. as a matter of fact i think i've been babying it for a while. i was just pointing out that when driving aggressively with brand new tires you could see minor scrape marks on the sidewall. you can't hear it or anything... just something you'd have to get close to the tire and see.

id say stick with 275, i had 285/40/18's on mine for a while and that was the max and that was 18's on stock ride height. so lowered on bigger wheels id go 275 for sure
