Cobra 8.8

Cobra 8.8
My buddie owns a performance shop and I was telling him about creative steels 8.8 kit. He ended up having a cobra 8.8 with 4.10 gears in it.
Question is. Would you guys rather have our stock gears. Or the 4.10. This diff has a couple thousand miles on it. So I'm very interested in doing the swap

what are you using the car for DD?
Accelleration v. MPG
there are calculators on the web to show you the difference in each gear with the new 4.10s. plug in the gear ratios from the FAQ and make a personal decision..
Id go with stock 3.73.. or rebuild the trans and throw in a .50 6th with 4.10 rear to try and make up that lost MPG

Going to 4.10s from 3.73s would drop your top speed from 165ish to about 150 at the top of 5th gear. It will help with low end acceleration at the loss of top speed. I don't think it'll truly be worth it for 4.10s as a DD, but I see where you are going with this... and having another axle we could bolt up to would be good as opposed to 5k axles.

I have been messing around with the idea of buying an 8.8" from CS...for me, I would either go 3.73s or possiliby 3.55s. 4.10s+ are nice if you plan of spending a lot of time at 1/4. But, IMO, anything big the above 3.73 for a standard commute isnt worth it.
But like shady said, bottom line, do it if you can...haha.

I just talked to max today on the phone about getting his partial kit.
My car isnt my DD and I spend most my time city driving. And when I do use the freeway, it's only for about 15-20 mile trips either direction.
How much do you think my old diff is worth? It's out of an 07
The only reason I want to just go with the 4.10's is because they are already in there and the pumpkin is assembled. Just need max's partial kit

If you are mainly city driving with short freeway runs, 4.10s will be good. They will def provide more stop light to stop light fun. And the MPG loss for city driving will be minimal.
How many miles are on the you 07 Diff?

i just did an 8.8 with the 4.10 gears- its not in the car yet (just working on it actually) but i did it think the bottom end gears could be a bit more fun and I was planning on being able to pull 6th gear with the 4.10s where i thought the 3.73s would be too high of a ratio and 6th gear would be useless up top.
