Default belly shield fell off

Well mine scrapped for about few miles and fell off once I got off the freeway. And its done. So how important is it? I know a majority of cars its a piece that actually does something. And what can I get one used for if needed. Thanks

You just lost 100 lbs of downforce from the missing bellypan!!!

I don't think it's that big of a deal. Drove 5,000 miles without one on.

I think the main thing it does is to control airflow through the engine bay. It probably helps air to flow through things that are somewhat restrictive, like the radiator, instead of flowing around them.

I wouldn't sweat it, but I'd want to eventually replace it.

Does a great job of catching all the PS fluild to make you think that you are not leaking any fluid.

I just replaced mine. The cheapest I found was $92 shipped from gmotors.com. Super fast shipping!!! They did a search and sent it out same day. Other companies may be cheaper like GM direct but it could be up to a three week back order. I didn't have one on for a year and the engine bay got dirtier faster without it. I've notice that my engine bay stays "cleaner" with it on.

at high speeds without that thing it makes your hood look like it's gonna fly off.

I never had one until recently when it popped up here f/s. I will say that the V feels more stable at high speeds with it. Placebo? I don't know but I feel better with one.

Also I used 4 zip ties in the corners along with new plastic retainers to make sure I don't lose it.

Mine came off and thought it wasn't a big deal. Then I was making a 135mph run and the ENTIRE d/s inner fender well flew out. I have to believe it was because of the air not being directed properly. Still haven't replaced it, or the fender liner....Just keep it under 100 now.

GMpartsdirect is crazy with the shipping. I think it was $80 just to ship it. Another site wanted me to complete the order at $12 shipping. But the fine print said they'll automatically charge me if shipping costs more . Obviously I still don't have one.

I will check Gmotors.com. Don't care how much I "need" it, just want my car to be correct.

Mine was 80% hanging on..did a high speed run (~150) and most of it fell down, put it back up with oversized plastic pins and a hammer..seems to be holding well.

A member a while ago had an aluminum piece for sale that would fit there, don't know if anyone grabbed it or not.

Mine fell off too. It was just hanging down though, so i was able to use some zip ties and secure it that way.

Yep. Along with a stock one as well. That is the one I bought, I don't recall anyone picking up the aluminum one though.

lost my fender liner and deflector. The liner was the first to go. It was getting chaffed in a spot by the tire when it turns, and on the highway one day it let go. Pull off into a neighhbor hood going slow and the deflector began to drag. Pulled over and removed for practicality.

Just going to make them out of sheet aluminum.
