Default Are we supposed to have yellow valve springs on our LS6s?

I'm resealing the valve covers on my recently purchased 2005 CTS-v and noticed the valve springs aren't painted yellow. all they have is a pinkish/orange stripe down the side of them. the head castings read 12564243. WTF? Help!!

That's stock. My spring were not yellow either and the last three of the casting number is what you're looking for. 243. That's LS6 heads.

oh good. This car has turned out to have one problem after another, and if I found out this was a junkyard engine out of a Camaro, I was gonna burn the damn thing. LOL

The time and cost for replacing the springs is minor.

If you add in a trunion upgrade it still is worth the peace of mind, given the known things that can go south.

I'm not planning on replacing anything as long as it's stock. I was scared I had a replacement engine in my car. I've never seen anything but yellow springs in LS6s and LS2s

My LS6 springs. You can also see the 243 cast into the head on the first pick between the pushrod guides.

Huh, on both my old, blowed up LS6, and the new LS6 long block sitting in my garage, the springs were yellow. I wonder what the difference is (if any).

Bringing this back up. Just checked and I too have the plain springs. I want to put the blue or yellow springs in. I am not planning a cam upgrade anytime soon. Whats the upgraded trunion ?

Thanks

Thanks. I want to only do the springs once. Will it do any harm to upgrade the springs to something like the patriot golds before a cam upgrade.

May want the trunion upgrade before going to a stiffer spring. They have been known to puke their guts with stock springs. I had crane gold roller rockers with patriot gold extreme springs and never ha a problem.

Since they have to be removed anyway, a no brainer. IMO

I use a Comp Cams #1500 system in my V.

I installed the upgrade in Mr. Vette.

$125 shipped in the classifieds.

What would be a good spring upgrade that I can use until I decide on a cam.

These ?
