Default Battery question

Need to replace my battery and was wondering if anyone is running an optima or something other than stock. I put on a temporary bat from my last car but don't think it will hold charge for long. I'm sure many batteries will fit no problem as the one in there now I had sitting in my garage for four years from my M. Works for now but you know how that is, it dies when you least expect it.

You can use a standard group 24 size and it will fit. The actual battery that belongs in our cars is shorter overall and does fit better. I just put a new one in my car from autozone like $160 ($$$) don't know the part # off hand. I was/am concerned about high underhood temps and thought that the factory replacement may be more resastant to heat. Thats what that cover is for on the battery. Heat. And when it's 117 outside **** cooks under the hood. I put a new "regular" battery in last summer and after a couple days it was swelled up and pissing fluid out the vent from the heat.

Im running a red top optima. They are rated for 1000 cold cranking amps vs like 5-700 on most all other batteries and are a dry sump battery. So far no problems.

Same here, Everstart or something like that. I think I replaced it two winters ago and have had no issues yet. Reasonably priced too.

I stopped using OPTIMAS years ago as the quality was suffering.

Now I use ODYSSEY batteries.

After just over seven years, my original battery bit the dust the other day when, after three months with no battery tender, the car wouldn't start. Paid $148 for the same battery (AC Delco 690 cca Group 101).

Fits just like it's suppose to.

just replaced my battery last week. a group 78 or 75 battery will fit. stock acdelco was 150 ish at stealership and parts store its a group 101 battery. group 78 from oreilly w discount was $90 even. it came w 3yr warranty. walmart also carries one 3 yr warranty for $89. so i saved $60 by using group 78. no brainer. fits fine, just a little tighter. also i was able to slip the cover over the battery, read some could some could not. good luck.

Mine just went **** up also...weighed the options but went with the Deka OE 101 series replacement battery that it calls for. Always had good luck with the Deka batteries and I get them for next to nothing...the list price was $127 or something...the 101 series are pricey little *****.

Just to throw it out there I looked at the battery I installed in the v today and it is an Interstate megatron like itsslow suggested. One thing I have to say is I had this damn thing in the garage 5 years since I sold my M and I threw it in the v over a week ago. It's been bellow freezing several nights and 60s 70s a few days and the damn thing is running strong as ever. Flawless. I'm truly impressed by it. Just thought I'd throw it out there
