Default axle stub replacement

So on day 2 of owning my V, I break the passenger side axle.... It's stock other than I/E and I don't plan modding it until it's paid off so no crazy HP. The passenger side axle broke at the hub and I need a replacement. Autoparts stores told me they can't get a replacement and the dealer wants $700+. I don't think I need the 1000hp GForce ones and the lower models still use the factory stubs, which I am now missing. What are my options.......suggestions? Can I just replace the CV stub with another used one?? and is the driver and passenger side the same?? Thanks

Yes you can replace the stub with a used one, no biggie! It's more of a hassle taking it all apart than anything else. I may have one... But won't know till I get back home tomorrow night.

Lol I know right..lucky for me I only make enough $$ for the car payment and basic maintenance. After this any money I am able to save up will be stashed for the breakable items like axles and the diff lol

Ebay almost always has a set of axles for sale.

You broke yours on the "easy" side, if you break the splines off inside the diff you have the joy of removing the diff and cleaning out all the metal shavings.

edit; I'm pretty sure axles are interchangeable between cts and cts-v, but you might want to confirm with your dealer.

Yes, cts axles are interchangable. I had to buy one to get me by once, while I waited for a ctsv axle. The CTS axle is whimpy looking though. Haaa.

LMK if you need a replacement. I have one with low miles and I'm in PA.
