**** is broke, buy bigger and better...you will regret going OEM, since it will just happen again. At the very least, I would get some race axles and CVs. Might as well spend the extra money now, rather then spending again and again on OEM.

Hopefully someone still has a stocker they will give you. I don't disagree with beefing it up if you can afford - but someone help the guy get back on the road.

I have another vehicle I can drive but I'm done living in fear over rearends. I spent 10 years daily driving my Camaro and I was scared to death of the 10 bolt. Last time running I had 5000 miles of utter abuse at 650ftlbs of tq with a solid (no sprung hub) clutch, MT 275 slicks, and a bone stock 10 bolt.

I won't say I abuse my V but I've had plenty of chirps on 1-2 and 2-3 and won't be blowing 6k for a rear before mine breaks.

If you can find a stock one cheap get it running again.

what year is your V? I have an axle off an 05 V (another forum member on here) that snapped his inner joint, the outer joint is fine though. The shaft is still sitting in my shop I believe (where it has been for months), doing nothing. I'm sure he would not object to its use.

Have to say, that is odd. Usually the outers do not break...its usually the inner stubs and cages.

Sorry I didn't see this thread until tonight. I have 5 or 6 outers sitting in my garage from all the axles I broke inners on. Make sure you replace the nut or at least use Loctite. I've found mine loose a couple times. (Yes, I randomly check them).

I would recommend taking your inner cv off and selling it on here, as Brian said, they are a common broke part for the rest of us (how you broke the outer i don't know) it should fit in a flat rate priority mail box so figure ~$13 for shipping

Luckly it was the outer, much easier to replace..The axle nut was loose when i went to take it off, but I don't know if that was because it broke just behind the stub or not. I'd imagine if it WAS loose before, that is what could have caused this... I've read a couple good threads about the Hendrix Engineering axles, but has anyone had any negative results. I bought a used set (p.o. said <10k miles). They are the ones with porche style CVs and bolt on stubs..

I'm sure DARKMAN torqued and loctite'd the Allen bolts on the CV's before he installed them. That, the shafts are bare metal and rust, and the fact that Tommy Hendrix is a lying douche seem to be the only negative comments. They are actually made by DSS.

The outers rarely break, its the inners that are the weak point.

Yeah from what I've read only a few outers have broke and many of the aftermarkets axles have you use the stock outers. I suspect the axle nut was loose b/c I really wasn't beating on it that hard lol Waiting on UPS this evening............
