Default Heads/Cam Install Scheduled

I have my heads/cam install setup for the end of the month. I am hoping for 450RWHP and a very daily driver idle out of this setup.

Here are the main components:

PRC LS6 Stage 2.5 CNC Ported Heads
Lingenfelter GT11 Cam
SLP55001 SLP Heavy Duty Oil Pump
JP5615T Gen III LS1 & LS6 Double Row Chain (Torrington bearing fitted)

See my sig for where the car is now(prob down 10 hp since I put cats on after dyno).

Good luck. I've been working on my next round of mods for the last three days and I'm almost done. Hoping for the same thing. I'm not installing new heads, however.

List of stuff installed:

Comp TRuTorq L3 cam (223/236 .612/.610 115 LSA)
Comp 26926 dual springs (470 in-lbs open seat pressure)
New seals, seats, retainers, pushrods, etc
Comp rocker trunnion upgrade kit
ATI SuperDamper
ATI LS1 crank pin kit
New water pump, valve cover, and timing cover seals
Racetronix hotwire kit routed directly to the alternator
LS9 56 lb injectors

Since I had the car tuned last year (dyno results in signature), I added a Magnaflow 16637 exhaust, had the throttle body ported and polished, installed a 13 lb Fidanza flywheel, and switched from 5W-30 to 15W-40 oil. We'll see how things turn out next week when the car is re-tuned.

You wont see 450rwhp without a FAST intake. ISnt that cam speced for boost?

I assume you're talking about Chitown's cam, both because of that cam's specs (215/231 .631/.644 118 LSA) and that LS6's 75mm throttle body.

My cam package was selected by Shane (owner of Thunder Racing) for use with a TVS2300. The only little quirk I think is worth mentioning is that my springs are up one size from the Comp 26925 (400 in-lbs open seat pressure) to compensate for the tendency of boost to hang the valves open too long.

sounds like fun! Race Proven in Delaware has a FAST/Cam package that will get 450-475 rwhp... when my tranny gets fixed i am thinking about going that way(for now)... keep us posted on your numbers.

Are you saying this because of the perceived throttlebody/intake limitation?
Hopefully the ported and polished TB will help...we will see

Why the switch from 5w30 to 15w40?

you dont need a FAST to make 450rwhp theres a local guy here in ga who put down 461 with with a 232/236... the heads would need to be decked to achieve an 11.X compression ratio

hes about to buy a fast and an ls2 tb... hoping to see what he gain, however its not a restriction, he has money to sling around, but i dont see over 12-15rwhp and for 1200-1500 for it, i dont see the point in that amount of money for such a small gain, granted it will pick up some power

The short answer is that Shane at Thunder Racing recommended it, and when I balked, he challenged me to research the subject. After reading articles for 4-6 hours, I agreed with him. If you want me to dig up some of the articles, let me know.

I made 400 even with a 232/236 cam, no way will heads alone with the stock ls6 intake gain 61rwhp. I guess it all depends on the dyno.

Sure thing. I'm at a bit higher in mileage so was thinking about a change to a slightly thicker oil. 128k+ right now. Wanted to see what you came across and how it was working so far. Did you have oil consumption issues before? What kind of climate do you drive in? Ever see winter temps, etc? Drop me a PM

odthetruth: if you're replacing your oil pump then any oil pressure woes would be gone, and I would suggest using the manufacturers oil recommendation.
