Default LS3 or L92 Heads + L76 Intake on a LS2 CTS-V

Hey guys--

Right now, I have a stock LS2 with unported 243 heads. Cam is 223/236 .612/.610 115 LSA (TruTorq Level 3). I thought I'd ask for suggestions regarding cheap (< $800) ways to increase the amount of power I'm producing.

In terms of bang for the buck, it looks like I might be able to find a set of LS3 or L92 heads and an intake for as low as $800. Alternately, I could have my existing heads and/or intake ported, but I'm not sure whether that's worthwhile. Next year, I'd like to try to find a used Maggie and have it rebuilt or make my own TVS1900 kit. I don't plan on going with a forged bottom end (I'd buy a V2 or swap the entire motor out before that).

The thing with the heads is gonna be compression, if you get them ported your gonna want them milled to bump the compression to make a little extra power. That might hurt your down the road if you plan to boost it cause your thinning the deck and raising the compression out of boost friendly ranges.

Personally Id just grab some L92s and an ls3 intake. Just get with a shop to pick a head gasket and studs if you definetly wanna boost it later on.

Any idea what I might make with the L92 heads, and if you have the time, could you try to educate me a little bit regarding the casting numbers? I found the following page, but it's more of a reference guide with no explanation offered.

I believe you want 823 or 5364 or 821 casting heads. With L92s/LS3s and yoru cam witha stock ls3 intake id imagine 420-430rwhp with a really good tune. Thats if the cam only numbers in your sig are accurate to the mods in your sig which seems low. Normally id say 440 or so.

Numbers in my signature are old and therefore invalid. I'll be getting the car retuned on the 3rd.
