Default ABS light????

Driving down to Galveston tonight and I had a service stability system pop up on the screen and my ABS light is on by the gauges.

What could the problem be? Anyone else had this randomly happen?

you'd have to scan it to see what was up, it could be those two or a plethora of other things, but my guess is wheel speed sensor.

it usually entails a broken wire, but the sensor itself could also be bad, which means new wheel bearing.

i've actually heard of people getting fluke ABS codes from a battery going bad, and my SSS light and ABS t/c light used to randomly come on, and it went away when I replaced a battery

My battery is good and was replaced not too long ago. I've never had that message pop up before but after I got where I was going, when I left, there was no light and again this morning... Nothing. So I guess I'll wait it out and see if it pops up again. I was just hoping it was nothing major cause it's never come up before.

Yea you'd have to scan it... The ABS and SC system work with the same wheel sensors... I agree most likely a sensor problem

I guess if it stays off I won't worry about it. If it comes back, I'll run the code with a scanner and see what it is. Just don't know why it would do it randomly like that and then go off. Hmm... Wonder if it has something to do with the 4.10 in the rear?

x2 what everyone else said and believe it or not could be low on brake fluid or ya have air in the system. Get it on a scanner

Good call... that could be the issue. My 1/2 ton P/U had the same problem when I threw in 4.56 gears

Brake fluid is good but one of these weekends, I plan to bleed them and refill with fresh fluid. I'll just wait and see if the light comes back on. That's the only time it's happened and now it's off again. The car might have just got qwerky for a min cause of the 4.10.
