Default High oil temps/fluctuation

Ive read the threads saying that the IPC or whatever can be reprogrammed to fix a glitch in the oil temp calculation, but would that fix fluctuations as well?

Yesterday I noticed the oil temp went up to 260 while in normal city driving - coolant was at 197. Today it sat at 220-230 the whole time even with some hard acceleration. Is it a bad ground issue or is it the IPC programming? No lights have gone off, but i dont like the gauge up there when I know the oil isnt really that hot.

Yup, read that. Guess i more focused on the fluctuations rather than a blatant offset. Ill check the grounds anyway.

Donde esta the oil temp sensor on a CTS-V?

The fluctuations can be the result of your a/c or the radiator fans turning on and off.

Simple check is to turn off the a/c while looking at the oil temp.

If it moves, you got a funky ground.

The oil temp sensor I believe is on the side of the oil pan.

Combo sensor.

It is also the oil level sensor.

AC was and has been off - must be a ground issue
