Default heater only gets luke warm

ok well as i have been posting here the last few weeks its because im trying to get this pos car i bought squared away. i wasnt being smart when i bought it and didnt check all the little things. anyways, the drivers side heater only gets luke warm. But the passenger get hot like its supposed to. Is there an actuator going out or something and if somebody might have had this problem can let me know how hard it was to change. 2004 cts v

Something to think about.....

My V hasn't done this, but when my Jeep did this, and I ended up taking the hoses off, and flushing out the heater core with a hose.

This happened in mine about 9 months back when it was minus a million here where I live. Hot air out the pass side, cold out the drivers. The dealer wanted to go to the blend doors as their first step but I overrode that and asked them to look into the heater core. They dumped a cleanser in and had to leave it overnight after the tech found it fully blocked on the driver side.

It might be something that I could have done on my own, but not in -35c in an un-heated garage. Maybe could have avoided the issue with a coolant flush if I'd done that when I bought the car.

Good luck with getting yours warm again!

Thanks! Any special cleanser I could clean it out with? And I just need to unhook the hose to the wp and flush it that way correct?

Mine has done it for two years. Had the dealer replace the blend door motor to no avail. Next attemp is to flush the core.

It's possible you don't need to put any gunk cleaner into the core. I dropped mine off at the dealership to have them handle this one for me, and while they told me they needed it to soak overnight, it's not like I saw the setup. ;-)

Check the other forum, Tommy C had a good post on his experience and I can't find it on this site. He had luck without any detergent, keep pressure low!

On a lot of gm products, you can reset the blend doors by taking the battery cables loose and touch them together for 15 second then put em back on. God knows I've done it on over a hundred Chevy trucks. People don't use a memory saver when changing the battery. Worth a shot anyway.

By the way how does touching them together reset things? I've always wondered that.

It discharges any residual charge that might potentially hold the memory.
