Default broke the V

Well the V is down again.....I was out driving with a friend, and did a hard 1, 2 shift. As we were turning right on the highway, there was some vibration to the rear, and couldn't tell where it was coming from....

...First automatic thought was like **** I did something to the rear! Than I decided that wasn't the case since the car was still driving, got it home took a look, drained the diff, everything looked fine there, got new fluid for it. We drove it up to a buddies shop, no vibration at all, sounded and drove fine.

Put it up on a lift looked some more and still nothing, so we took it back out, and did another 1, 2 shift. and snap....the drive shaft snapped in half. Turns out the carrier bearing went bad, and just annihilated the drive shaft. Hadn't heard of this happening a lot, but did some checking and i guess it does seem to happen a decent amount of time.

I just ordered a single piece drive shaft from g force, damn they are expensive for this damn car!!

Which shaft by them did you get? What was the damage to your wallet?

^yeah? And...if it was very severe...could have been invested towards an 8.8......

I went with the 3.5 single piece drive shaft, it was $899...the cheapest i could get the stock one again was $750.00 and that was only 10% over dealer cost on that part, it MSRP's around $1000...so figured might as well get the single piece and get rid of that issue.

The cost was severe enough to suck, but not severe enough to want to drop 4k for the 8.8 in the rear. and like someone said one weak link i dont need to worry about now, now just hope the rear doesn't all of a sudden go out. If that did happen, I think at that point i would let the shop fab me a 8.8, they already kinda want to do it lol

I'll try to get pics of the carnage...got a damn massive dent in my floor board now lol, and you can see where the carrier bearing just sheared itself pretty much

id put a stop on the drive shaft and put the money into the 8.8 kit. trust me i tried to get away with bandaids and ended up spending shitloads of money just to keep breaking things. 2 diff's (1 being a gen 4) 3 inner cv's etc..

ya, i just dont plan on modifying the car much anymore...I'll do some suspension stuff but thats really it....At max it's pushing 450 wheel hp and its more likely 400, i just cant bring myself to dump an extra 4 k into it right now. I have the 900 from taxes, but nothing close to the 4k i would need for the 8.8

curse you all lol....I have sent an email to gforce to see if I can cancel the order for the drive shaft. I just ordered it around 6 last night, I tried to call, but never had an answer, just like a fax machine. So hopefully they will allow a cancel, and if they do. I will start research on an 8.8 or 9 for the rear

Dang, I don't know about for a V but the driveshaft place by me will make a custom AL shaft rated at 1500 hp for $450. $900 seems pricey!

Does anyone have a different number for gforce? I'm trying the one on the site, but no one answers, than it just goes to fax. I sent an email, but i dont want them to start on it before they see the email, so I'm trying to call.

(316)-260-8433 is the number I called when I had an issue with my Driveshaft order. Picked up right away, and overnighted parts needed. Great Customer Service!

got a hold of gforce and he was going to check to make sure its not shipped yet, if so I can get a full refund, i assume that if it has shipped, I will just be out the shipping. I can live with that. Now on to figure out what I want to do.
