Default Steering wheel swap

Tried to find information, but was having trouble finding anything about people switching out the bus-sized steering wheel in their V. I have an OMP 330mm suede wheel left over from my old car, and want to swap it over.

-Is the hub the same as another GM model, like a vette? Can't find a CTS specific adapter. Spline count?

-Airbag resistor? Not a deal breaker, but not having a light on the dash is nice.

-Ideas for switch relocation? I may move the cruise control to ashtray, but I don't really use the left side buttons. I can always turn off TC from the glove box, yes?

I've seen V1's with roll bar/aftermarket seats, so I hope someone has done this already and knows this stuff. Thanks!

Replaced the upper shaft with a C5 Vette one...

Better pic

I moved to toggle button from the wheel and mounted them down near the shifter to cycle the gauges

Well, for what it's worth, I'm loving their block setup (picture). The gnarlier pattern has a great feel--no slippage with everything from gym shoes to dress shoes. The wider gas pedal helps with heel-toe.

Sweet! You mean just the steering hub, not the whole upper shaft correct? Also, which brand of hub did you use?

Update:

I finally got around to doing my custom gas pedal extension and pulled my steering wheel. It turns out that the splines are the same dimensions as a miata, which worked out great since I had a hub adapter sitting around already.

Next is getting a resistor to turn the airbag light off, and deciding if i want to keep/relocate the cruise control switches. Pics to come in the next few weeks probably, at the pace I am working.

the airbag codes are easy enough to turn off after adding the resistors

I really need to buy a camera. For now here's a teaser.

Is the resistance needed for airbag the same as other GM models? I have read a bunch of different values, and a whole lotta guesses. There are two airbag connectors too I guess..

I think I used 2.7 ohm resistors - 2 needed per seat.

you could also buy a rheostat at RadioShack if you want to dial up until you find the precise resistance you need and then buy regular resistors at that value

also, if you pull the passenger seat, you'll throw a Passenger Presence System code unless you keep your stock seat's PPS or figure out how to bypass it (I'm still working on that)
