That's good to know, thanks! It does seem like it's getting a bit easier but I might just be getting used to it. Though it could be what you're saying, I put a Hurst in my Corvette and it wasn't quite as tough, but I installed that one myself.

Hey there, another new first gen V owner here. I just picked it up on Friday and definitely need a short shifter.
Do I just send you my order along with secondary stalk pitch, hurst **** color, and all other details over PayPal?
And not to rush, just out of curiosity, whats the expected delivery time after ordering?

Thanks!

Send $300 via PayPal to br_1868@hotmail.com (br_1868@...). Please make a note on the transaction as to whether you'd like a white or black **** and also verify your shipping address.

Got mine installed yesterday, coming from such a turd of a shifter it's a no **** difference. Nice to be able to drive with more confidence in your gear selection.

Would it be possible to change this out by myself or do I have to have another hand help me?

The 4 nuts, washers, and bolts that hold the new shifter on are a pain, but I did it by myself. IMO, not required, but a second set of hands for just that 60 second task would likely take 20 minutes of cursing off the install.

Also, did you guys have to lower or remove the exhaust to get to the bottom of the shifter? or did you guys have enough room to get to it through the sides?

Didn't touch the exhaust or transmission crossmember. It's tight but I'm pretty big these days and did it on jack stands in my driveway. Just plan for a couple of hours and be happy if you get it done more quickly. This is NOT a 10-minute Mustang shifter install but still straightforward.

I could not get the single bolt out of the bottom of the shift tower/shaft. To the trans itself. It had been us disturbed for 179,500 miles, so I did drop the exhaust and the did some work on the exhaust when I was done with shifter. Did it all on stands in the driveway.

Yea I did solo as well, but yes there was a lot of cursing and some busted up knuckles. End result was worth it though.

Yea not that bad with no helper, I got the nut on the front bolt from the top to keep it in place. Put a set of vice grips on the bolt head to keep them from spinning while you tighten them.

Seen this thread and it reminded me I needed to throw a thank you to Brian. Installed the shifter a couple months back and have nothing but great things to say about it. As has been noted in a couple of other posts, it was a lot easier with an extra set of hands. Pulled my father in to help me install (he is in his 70s). It was the perfect upgrade to get him back in the shop.
