Default Hurst shifter for the 2004-2007 CTS-V.

The benefits of the Hurst are:

1. It is a FULL replacement shifter. So if your stock nylon pivot ball and/or your nylon bushings in the base are creating side to side or up and down play, this will eliminate ALL of that. The only play that will be left in your system is what is created by the linkage at the transmission end.

2. A Teflon coated spherical bushing designed for this type of application is used in place of the stock nylon pivot ball and nylon housing setup. This bushing does not require as service during it's entire life cycle. This means that no periodic greasing is needed, install and forget about it. The spherical pivot bushing is also replaceable if it ever wears.

3. The bushings in the base are a completely new design. Using six years of CTS-V shifter experience, I designed a new set of bushings to fit tighter, last longer and eliminate ALL of the play.

4. The Hurst kit comes with two stalks. The first one is the classic Hurst style exposed chrome stalk. This can be used with the white or black cue ball style **** that is included or any of the other multiple Hurst ***** available. The second supplied stalk is designed for use with the stock gen5 Camaro or G8 ****. The stock V boot does not adapt to the Camaro or G8 *****, however, I have developed a method to modify the second stalk to accept the stock V ****. I will have to ask that you send me your stock shifter after you swap it out for the modified 2nd stalk. I can also adapt any threads you desire to the top of the second modified stalk. Just ask, I can do it all.

5. The kit includes dynamat and rubber vibration isolation pieces. The dynamat is included if you you experience noise transmitted through your Hurst shifter. Of the shifters I have modified and shipped, I have not had any comments as to excessive noise from their shifters and I don't think anyone has used the Dynamat. The supplied rubber isolators go between the bottom portion and the upper stalk that the **** attaches to. I also recommend zip tieing the inner rubber boot to the lower stalk. This creates a barrier so the noise and vibration doesn't travel into the cabin.

6. The stalk is easily changed out. If you get bored with the exposed chrome stalk and cue ball style **** simply unbolt the two bolts and swap it out. This is all done through the center console.

7. The bottom of the shifter is raised an additional 3/16" from my modified stock shifter. This means there shouldn't be even a remote chance I hitting the driveshaft with any aftermarket trans mount, motor mounts or driveshaft combination.

8. Satisfaction guaranteed. As with my other shifters, I offer a lifetime guarantee. If you aren't completely satisfied I will work my best to make it right, up to and including full money back.

The standard cost is $300 shipped to your door. Payment is preferred through Paypal, my address is br_1868@hotmail.com. If you would like the secondary stalk modified to accept the stock V **** I only require that you send me your stock shifter after you swap it out. I try to keep these in stock but if I run out the wait time will be less than a week.

As of March 1, 2016 the price will increase to $300 shipped. This is due to Hurst raising their price twice over the past two years and postage has also nearly doubled since I started selling these.

This is a great shifter! If you find the stock Hurst shaft too short/angled back, this is what I run in my car:

Hurst 5387238

It feels just about right. But this is the Beauty of the Hurst shifter is that you can change the top half any time you like.

I have successfully adapted the stock attachment to the extra stalk. This gives you the option of using the stock CTS-V **** and boot instead of the exposed chrome Hurst stalk and ****. I will ask that you return your stock shifter if you want this option as I cut the top of the stalk and waste one of my cores in the process. Please note that you would like this in the notes section of the Paypal transaction.

*** You will need to send me back the black stalk along with your stock shifter when you ask for this. I do not have enough extra stock ones to adapt to the black Hurst stalks to keep up with the demand. You'll have to use the chrome one while I modify the extras for you.

I have one of Brian's modified hursts shifters in my car. It is waayyy better than the stock crap. I did not use the dynamat material. I just used one of the rubber pieces between the upper n lower stalks. No noise or vibrations whatsoever. It's an awesome upgrade to the v1's!

There are still several weak points in the shifter linkage that can be addressed to minimize the slop. Brian makes brass bushings for the forward pivot point, there's the home depot bushing mod, and a T56 brass selector cup that goes inside the trans. You can also tack weld the pivot joint as well.

Brian, have any old customers switched from your purple shifter to the Hurst version? Curious about a comparison there.

I switched from his old shifter to the Hurst shifter, but It did not have Brian's Modified parts to install it.

It feels incrementally better, (the jump from stock shifter to modified shifter is HUGE), so this is not that big of a difference, but it does feel a little bit tighter. With the stock Hurst upper portion it is noticeably shorter throw (and really just a small flick of your wrist between gears, although I found the shift effort too high for city driving (hence why I recommend the taller upper portion) and why the hurst is great that you can swap out upper portions)

For me the Hurst shifter was all about the look, and it should maintain its tightness much longer than the stock shifter with its plastic ball.

I recommend looking at redline custom shift boot as well, I ordered mine ~2" shorter (if i recall correctly) so that it did not have so much slack in it and I think it turned out good:

I sent you a PM. I have redesigned my bushings again that I install in the base of my shifters. I have moved the o-rings to the inside of the shifter base. This has tightened thing up even more than my previous design.

I am 90% sure the Katech utilizes the stock bushings in the base. Therefore, my replacement bushings will work and significantly tighten up the play in your shifter. The stock bushings are nylon and they wear out, get brittle and break. I use Delrin to make mine which doesn't do that.

I sell the bushing set for $75. It come with two redesigned Delrin bushings with o-rings, a stainless steel pivot tube and a tube of white lithium grease to use for installation and to freshen up the lube at the pivot ball also.

Correct. Last spring, you sold me a new set of the stock bushings to replace my worn out ones. Here's a couple of pictures, showing the old one and the new one:

The o-ring had almost been vaporized on the old bushing, so I lubed up the new one prior to installation.

By the way, that brass bushing for the front of the linkage rocked. It was super tight, annihilating all of the slack in that part of the linkage. If GooseCaddy05 is going to buy some of the linkage mods from you, this is one he should definitely also get.

It's about a 2 out of 10 on the difficulty scale. A novice should be able to complete it in 1.5-2 hours. I send detailed instructions with the kits.

Here are the basics of the install.

1. Remove shift ****/ bezel assembly and foam insulation inside center console.
2. Disconnect a wire harness and remove the plastic hold down plate inside the center console.
3. Drill out two rivets.
4. Remove the bolt holding the base of the shifter to the linkage from under the car.
5. Insert the modified Hurst shifter into the hold down cup you drilled the rivets some and use the supplied bolts to attach it to the linkage plate in place of the rivets.
6. Attach the base to the center linkage bar.
7. Attach the upper portion of the Hurst shifter.
8. Install the plastic hold down plate and wire harness connection.
9. Install the foam insulation and shifter boot/bezel assembly.
10. Install the ****.

I f-ING love mine Brian. I posted over at the other forum that will go in named but I will post pics from my install tomorrow when I get a few snapped of both the Hurst and the new shift boot. It made a huge difference in how my car shifted.

Ok, to make sure I am understanding this correctly..

If we want it to look 100% OEM, we are going to have to buy this kit from you (telling you from the get go we want the OEM ****), get your kit and put it together with the silver exposed and the white know, send you our OEM set up, you then modify that (for free) and send it back to us, we then switch out what you sent us with the silver hurst shaft and white ball?

Also, there will be lots of slack in the boot after this? Any pictures from anyone? And to the people that switched boots, where from and any pictures?

Anyways, this looks great! This is for sure at the very top of my mod list as what I'm doing next, good luck and I hope your business prospers!

Edit: Sorry I didn't see where someone posted about the redline shift boot, is this the one that you're talking about?

http://www.redlinegoods.com/CTSVshiftboot.php#

Thanks!

Here's a crappy cell pic of mine with the stock boot, but I used the Hurst stalk. Just pushed the excess down into the hole and it looks fine. Shifts so much better than my old shifter!
