Replace that driveshaft bearing!!!
#61
Nothing is wrong with it. But I had an issue with my car after installing the 60a, which ended up being a non-bearing related part, CV boot that pooled grease and caused a nasty vibration which has been corrected. I decided to hold off on the power tour testing. I just would have felt bad IF there were any problems with the unit and didn't want to ruin Brians trip. BUT the unit will be installed when he returns and ran until his 8.8 swap.
Hindsight, he would have been perfectly fine installing the 70a unit.

this was a whole car vibration shuttering that was basically undrivable about 50mph.. I had just installed the 60a carrier unit and was freaking out.. the cv boot ended up blowing apart on the jackstands while trying to figure out the problem.. new grease and boot... driveline is smooth as glass with the 60a..

I was able to install my stock drive shaft with Matt's replacement bearing and rubber surround yesterday morning. I felt the new rubber carrier was really no stronger than what I started with originally (50K OEM) so I used my left over 3M window weld and reinforced one side 360*. I've done this twice before with excellent results. I installed the driveshaft first to let the bearing and carrier sit in its natural weight laden position and filled in the forward groove with the 3M product. Last time I tried this I did it on the work bench and built a jig to keep the bearing centered in the rubber surround, but was unable to guarantee a proper pitch or yaw of the bearing in relation to the driveline axis. Don't know that either method was necessarily better than the other, but I figured the new rubber surround could better support the weight of the assembled driveshaft once installed which meant less effort involved prior to application. I torqued everything down, reinstalled the exhaust, and let the car sit for 24hrs so the urethane could cure. I made a 50 mile round trip on the highway today, no more squealing bearing! No other weird noises or vibrations either. I would call the project a success and hope to never touch the driveshaft on this car again.
To anyone considering Matt's services, aside from replacement bearing longevity for which I have no real world experience, I highly recommend it. His communication is excellent, turn around time was very fast, and his return shipping method in a circular concrete form was pretty genius. I would have loved to hold out for a 60A poly carrier, but my summer vacation schedule didn't allow it and I think the 3M modification gets me pretty close anyways.

Was it a bad CV boot that caused this?

I may clean out all the grease and repack it.
I still have cradle mounts and harmonic balancer on the "to do list". Do you know when the 60A center bearing will be ready? This sounds like something I need to add to the list.

In my opinion they should be ready now... BUT... it wouldn't be cool to not properly test an item before releasing it. I want to log atleast 10,000 total miles among various levels of V's before releasing this item.

I installed mine last night. I'm working out a transmission alignment issue and will hopefully be putting many miles on it in the next 3-4 weeks.
My first impression is it cleared up a ton of driveline clunk when cruising and getting on and off the throttle quickly. It also made a noticeable difference when launching from a stop.
