Default W$M Tune Opinions

Since installing my headers a tune is in order. Unfortunately there are not any tuners close to my area, several within a couple hours drive. Is a W4M tune worth the cost till I can get to a reputable tuner?

The only thing a canned tune will do is remove the torque management and maybe mess with the power enrichment a bit. Do your headers have an extra bung in the headers for a wideband already?

Here was my experience with a W4M tune after I got headers installed. Here's the dyno graph - run 3 and 4 were the W4M "tune", and run 1 and 2 were the stock ECU.

I'm not 100% sure what position you're taking here, but looking at your AFR's I would say that was money well spent even if you didn't make any additional hp. Having said that I still believe most people should be able to find and will be better off with a reputable local tuner, but there is still a place for mail order tunes.

EDIT: Nevermind, after a second look I realize that 1-4 are in reverse order and you were leaner after the tune. Those W4M AFR's do not look good at all, though I still think that a mail order tune can work for some people in a pinch.
