Default ls6 to ls3 swap

I am currently doing a ls3 swap into my ls6 05V. Anything you guys could provide information wise wouls be awesome. I have an alradco radiator and don't know if the ls3 vette style pump will clear. I would like to hear from the guys who have done this for anything to be aware of. Would like this to go as smooth as possible. Using a Built forged internal ls3 with a FAST102 intake, Nick Williams throttle body, injector dynamics id1000 injectors and direct port nitrous. Fuel delivery system? ignition system?

I'd like to know if you are doing an entire ls3? with which reluctor wheel? If not the 24 tooth then you will need the ecu as well, which I have no idea if that is just plug and play. I believe the ls3 is a 58 tooth wheel. That is problem #1 in my head with this.

Also, I don't think any one has done this yet. They have added an ls3 top end to their ls2 but not the entire ls3 swap.

Yes I am doing an entire LS3 swap. Custom built engine 418ci with a 24 tooth. I know this has been done just hoping those guys will weigh in.

People have done it. You will need adapter harnesses for the knock sensors, throttle body, cam sensor. You'll also need to use the LS6 MAP sensor and a module for the 58 tooth reluctor wheel. The heads and intake manifold are taller and will make your intake tube rub on the hood pad. Not sure about the water pump clearance but you could always use your LS6 accessories.

Edit: Just saw your post. You won't need the reluctor module.

I will change out the water pump for sure. So I guess just use the same ls6 part#? I think my engine builder is sending me the harness' as well. If not Katech?

just did the swap in mine... tsp sells the harnesses you need for the swap... i think they may be from racetronix though? if you are using the 24 tooth wheel then i believe all that is left after the harnesses is to drill and tap the knock sensor locations as they are in a different place between the ls6 and ls3

I am dealing with kyle @ Thompson motorsports. I think I get a better deal than TSP. They really didn't seem like they would budge on pricing. Kind of you get what you get.

the v uses drive by wire so he'll need a ls2 tb or nw 102 depending on his intake... sadly nw doesnt offer a drive by wire 92 tb... ls3 tb wont work, been there...

I already have purchased the NW 102. and FAST102 intake. Thompson Motorsports has been awesome so far. Engine should be to me by mid June saving some money with them as well. Engine should produce over 600na. Been following closely the Tommy C. E-force thread. It's either that or direct port Nitrous next.

Which LS3 did you go with? The fully forged one? When you get it take some pics of it. I've been looking at their motors as well. They seem to have pretty good pricing. Did you go with ARP hardware?

Yea that last sucks, but it is a rather large pita to crate up a motor properly. It's not like they are just throwing the engine in the back of a pickup. Lol
