Default Thinking about buying headers

I'm looking at the kooks headers. They are expensive. Is there a less expensive alternative that has the same quality? Ive seen OBX, pacesetter, stainless steel works ect. Anyone use any of these and what's your experience?

Good experience with OBX. You have to dent them slightly to clear the steering shaft, but it's easy.

good. a chance to ask my question. what do I have to do if I buy OBX and want cats? do I have to buy high flo cats and replace the resonators with them? Is there any header out there that will bolt to my Cats?

Or is there any header that can swap in and out easily if I choose to go back and forth from stock to aftermarket for smog testing?

any info helps
thanks.

Also OP OBX is a really good route to take.

Have to dent all 1 7/8" headers. OBX are an exact copy of kooks so take that into consideration. Lastly, please do a search. There are one million header threads out there already. That is unless of course you lack initiative?

Edit: unless you have tall motor mounts. Some have gotten away with out the dent, to which I'm not sure how. I almost did, but it ever so slightly would rub when I turned. So I dented them.

OBX sells header kit with cats....? Not sure what the question is...

No. There is no long tube headers that will bolt to your stock cats. Simple common sense would tell you this from looking at your exhaust.

OBX come with either cat fakes (cheaper) or catted connection pipes. Both of which will need to be adapted to either your stock or aftermarket cat back.

I did not have to dent my kooks 1 7/8'" with stock motor mounts. I know plenty of people who did not have to either. Just fyi.

Yeah I mean no harm. Just lately been on a kick about people helping themselves rather than being spoon fed, ya know? Seems to be a huge problem with where this country is going, and when it happens at the smallest level like this I cannot help myself. Honestly, I could run a search right here on ls1tech, an advanced search, with key word headers, searched only in titles, and only in the ctsv section and found all of these answers on my own in seconds. Yet people decide that must be difficult and start new threads? I have no problem with new threads, but the Internet forum used to flame people for starting repeat threads, what happened to that? I mean, I do still answer questions asked, but I'm not going to do so with out making it aware how easily it could have been done on your own. We are becoming a country of entitlement, gimme gimme gimme, and give nothing back.

Haha there is a rant for you.

Edit: with your last bit there, seriously? You want I should do the search for you and post a link? Did I read that right? Cause I think i did, and that makes my point all the more valid. And in my opinion is effing ridiculous!
Edit #2: if you are arguing that threads are started to get a quick answer (as some like to say in the title) "need help fast" do they sit in front of the screen tapping refresh and wait for an answer? Do they not know how to use the search function? Hell, it even works decent on my phone. This was all typed on my phone. I digress, there is no way starting a thread would get a faster answer then a thread that already exists with the answer is my point here.

Yeah, I knew there were some. That's why I edited my posts with that little disclaimer. Most though will have changed MM by now and I'm going to assume most aftermarket mounts must be shorter? I run UMI mounts, and like I said I drove that way for a while with out a dent, but the random vibration (through the wheel) I would get while going around a turn got annoying so I put a small dent.

My headers are wrapped also.

Which if love to see a picture of how much clearance you have between the shaft! If you ever get the chance to get under there and snap one!

If you don't correct idiocy, then you are helping it's problem. Not calling any one an idiot here, just giving my opinion. While I also believe that there is no dumb question, or that the only dumb question goes unasked; which is why I will usually answer the question then flame.

I'm just curious, did the op write his question on your forehead with a permanent marker? Because if he didn't...then you maybe should just get over it and shut up. Not every question on the internet is directed to you, maybe you should do a search on that.

Safe to assume he did not, as well it is safe to assume that you believe in all forms of hand outs.

I'd like to point out that what you quoted of me was a response to someone other than the op.

You just keep on enjoying your **** filled Cheerios this morning, ok champ?

Don't the OBX "copies" have a 2.5" collector?

Previous put kooks on and they would ding the steering shaft when you got on the gas in 1st and 2nd gear. I assume they are the 1 7/8" size. Stock motor mounts but they are not shot actually in good condition but I'm sure they've compressed over the years. It took an impact hammer to get them to dent in but that fixed it.

the best way to search is using google "cts-v headers site:ls1tech.com" etc.... new threads are okay and good for a forum but it's best to teach a man to fish I agree!

yeah from some of those old threads there's pics and the OBX collector is pathetic both in size and quality. I'd stay away from them.

Really? My OBX were great quality, and I'm 99% sure they are a 3" collector. They are 2.5" right behind the cats though, which made no sense to me. That is my only complaint about them. For half the price of kooks I think they are worth every cent. Pacesetters are even cheaper! I feel looks should come down in price. I could see 900$....
