Default FYI: OEM transmissions mount

If anyone needs one, they are back in stock and the price had gone down about $150 since I checked last. Call Luke at Lindsay Cadillac.

With aftermarket options available (like Creative Steel's), why would you bother going back to OEM?

Put a carbon fiber one piece driveshaft in your car and you'll figure out real quick why you'd want the stock mount.

The carbon shaft uses no flex disc. Removing it left no rubber in the drivetrain anywhere and turned the car into a tuning fork. Putting the stock trans mount back in the car was a huge improvement.

Yeah, the whole car got noiser and just buzzed the whole time. Especially the shifter....didn't think the flex disc played that kind of a role in the car so I wasn't expecting that but the factory mount smoothed it right out for the most part.

I had a poly trans mount in mine for about 5 miles. Put the worn out soggy 130k mile one back in and I got my cadillac back.

In what way did you get your caddy back, LS Bravada? I'm thinking about going back to the factory tranny mount on mine - I have a poly tranny mount in there right now. With the poly motor mounts AND poly tranny mount I have a VERY rigid engine/drivetrain and I'm actually looking for a way to "soften" it a bit.

You actually answered your own question. Cadillacs are supposed to be soft and plush, kind of like riding on a cloud not going for a ride on a hay wagon.

Just as an FYI ls1, I'm running creative steel mounts and a DSS one piece carbon fiber driveshaft. And it is not a tuning fork...

I think a lot of your issues may be isolated to you or your high mileage v. I don't think every v is the same so each will respond differently to certain mods.

I'm excited your OEM mount made your v better. But there are quite a few people that would argue the aftermarket vs OEM.

I wouldn't be opposed into throwing a new OEM mount in to see what it does to my car. Im not going to buy one though so I doubt it will happen.

But then again it's all subjective...what's fine for one isn't for another but I know my car changes dramatically when I put the cf shaft in it.

And maybe it is me. If I spend 1400 on a driveshaft I expect it to be smooth.

I'm sure you checked but what was your angular differences bet ween both CVs. To my knowledge any angle on the front joint must be equal on the rear to equal a pure shaft and not an out of round rotation.

I'm sure you knew that and checked it though

your a little late to that party and I doubt anybody wants to go through that again (I know I don't ) but most of it can be found in the last page or so of this link.

https://ls1tech.com/forums/cadillac-...t-options.html

I have UMIs which I think play more of a role in this than the your CS mounts do. I dragged everyone through that conversation to so I'll spare you the details....

I'm on my 3rd DSS carbon fiber DS, I still have both cores here.

Becker, what isolators and rear end do you have? Cradle, MM, trans, flywheel, rear end (stock or 8.8) and rear end bushings?
