Default The 3 Kings left a present at my door!

A rebuilt Alternator from Mech man. I must say I'm impressed with the first appearance. Will go in this weekend. for $200, they rebuilt it with more amps. $218 shipped. If it runs as good as it looks, that's a good deal.

Oooooo.....shiny

Tested too, nice for POM piece of mind.

No $480 stealership prices here.

So this is a stock one sent in from a V and they rebuild it to actually work? Sounds like a nice deal. What was the turnaround time?

Thumbs up

Well they were all on vacation for the holidays. I called them this Monday and the tech went and found it. Put it into their system and were done that day and shipped. So turn around time is 24-48 hours. From what I understand, they have their own process (patented) or their supplier so they beat GM at their own game with the supplier that held the patent on the Denso. They are nothing but alternators and are custom and will build whatever you want. I asked for a few more amps without having to double up pos and neg cables, so they gave me 20 more than stock which they said helps out at transition from idle to acceleration. I'm happy for now as it is quite a value.

demang, yes for my 07 V1. They know all about our situation, or one of their folks does. Just call them and tell them what you want. Customer service was outstanding! The following is the link:

While I can see the demand for more amps in cars with upgraded stereo systems and such, don't alternators with more amperage put more drag on the engine?
Other than a quality replacement for a fair price, is there any other gain?
I didn't think these cars had voltage regulation issues/shortcomings.

well, as for me, I am tired of replacing by battery every 12 months. I want my new extreme performance fans and electric water pump to have all the POWER they need. more amps, plus the Big 3 upgrade, can only help my friend. I'll let you know after dyno the car if there are any adverse effects.

There had been some pretty well documented issues with the voltage in these things. Honestly, if you're running any kind of power adder, you need to be able to supply the fuel pump with adequate voltage so it can do it's job.
