stroker......... again
Well I thought I had the L76 sold. Then the guy offered me less than his original offer and I wanted to go forward with my build... And it was my original intention with the motor.
So I got the block torn down today, rotating assembly out. The heads are in good shape, I was gonna get them machined, 5 angle grind for the valves and some port work... And some LS3 valves for the intake (the L76 has solid stem intake valves, LS3 has hollow stems). The LS6 is already sold, and I'm gonna take it out next weekend.
I'm gonna have the machinist do the minimum hone necessary to clean up the walls. The cylinders liners are clean but there is some rust/chemical wear on the sleeves. I'm hoping for north of 500 at the wheels. I think I might be ditching the power adder idea and going straight NA max effort build... Not sure yet.

Not sure how long mine will take. I'm hoping to be back on the road by the end of March as well. The machinist I used is busy, and their turnaround time can be rather slow sometimes, but they are very good.

Well I am hoping to keep the boring as small as possible. I wouldn't mind using this block more than once if need be... In the future if I do end up doing a blower build I'll punch it out a little more and put new pistons in it.

I don't fear Boring the ls2. Building mine currently with 4.020 Pistons. I'm not going max effort NA though. Im actually decreasing compression a little bit so it will be both fun Na for a while, and better for boost later. Looking at 10.2:1. Was thinking the same thing about heads and calling tooley, since he is no longer with TEA I'm curious who he recommends. But was planning TEA Stg 2's with ls3 valves. Your goal of 500 is conservative. If doing max effort with a big cam if shoot for 550. Either way, subscribed. Mine I'm hoping to be done with in May.

I don't fear boring the LS2/L76 block at all either. I just want to get as long of usage as possible out of it. The less I bore it out now, the further I can go in the future. Ideally I'd like to get 2 or 3 hones in total if possible. And that won't happen if I go straight to 416+ cubes. Besides, the extra 10 cubic inches is a negligible increase anyways. Most of the power is coming from the 4 inch stroke of the crank.
As far as the HP, I like to hope for something easily achievable with my small amount of skill, then when it dynos 550 I'll have a giant boner over it lololol. In all honesty, I couldn't give a rat's *** about dyno sheets. I'm going to take this thing to high performance driving events and beat the **** out of this motor. So I just want the tune to be dialed in. If I do in fact run boost later, it will be on a diet of E85 for sure. Our 91 octane fuel here in California is absolutely terrible. I still haven't decided on my static compression ratio yet. Not sure if I still want to go boost asap or if I drive the V with this motor for a while. I'm leaning toward NA max effort. But that will negate a boost friendly motor later unless I put new pistons in... Plus then I have to deal with blow by, ring issues, extra cooling, extra weight, and I'm essentially at sea level here where I live so its not like I'm in Denver.

In preparation for they build I started a blog to record the accomplishments and failures. If you wasn't to follow it and maybe pass it along, here you go.
L76 stroker, 4.005 bore, 4 inch stroke crank, forged crank/rods/pistons, machine the rectangular port heads, 102/102 intake and throttle body.
Fuel system is going to be a dw300, 6 micron fuelab filter with check valve, fuelab regulator, return style.

Depends on how the dyno is loaded. My tuner uses a mustang dyno. It would be more accurate for me to hook up my laptop and just log it. And its not all that difficult.
So I was talking to a local suspension company that has ties in euro makes and models... Might have another suspension option soon fellas.

Haven't got an intake yet. I was thinking about just getting an LS3 intake for now. My buddy has a 102mm fast TB that I can have. Not sure which intake I'm gonna go with yet. Kinda depends on what Brian Tooley says. I'm not an airflow guy, he is. Lol.

Do they advertise by what size of fast intake? I saw them recently but didn't see the reference.

If they did like for like... 102 fast would be the most comparable. But in all honesty, I'd be a little leery of a new intake claiming his or that. Until I see solid dyno numbers a few times... I'll probably stick with a FAST 102. They've been on LS blocks for what, 17 years now almost.
