Not everyone can be perfect like you. But I do remember when you replied very sarcastically to someone who said they keep pulling the wrong handle for the parking brake and pop the hood instead. I agree with that. Should only take a couple tries to remember that...

I know the reverse lock out solenoid on the V1's T56 has been known to go bad and allow you to shift into reverse instead of 5th gear.

Took me about a year to break that habbit. New car, new locations. I don't feel any less like a man

I would imagine finding the wrong gear in the V would be very easy to do with a bad set of shifter bushings.

I have more confidence with the V1 not missing a gear than my s2k. I have accidentally missed 5th for 3rd numerous times (s2k only). Luckily no damage but it's always in the back of mind when doing a street race (in Mexico, lol).

I missed 3rd one time in my friend's turbo S2k. Luckily I shifted early so it didn't rev too high.

never happened here. you have to apply some pressure toward you in order to shift into 1st.. I usually push upward for the 3rd shift not pull at all.

Then I did it running a 300c srt8... same ordeal. Both times trans seemed ok afterwords.. I did have to go home and repair my pride.. O.o

I would think that would be pretty hard to do based on the shift pattern and feel. 1st is way on the left and 3rd feels right in the middle. Once im going a decent speed it seems rather difficult to put back into 1st.

I've gone into 4th instead of 6th a few times. Probably new bushings are needed.

Mine happened with the 1st gen Katech shifter that was in my car.. it wasnt much better than a stock shifter... kinda sloppy as well. When adreneline is pumping and you go to slam up from second, my Mr.Flash speed shifts shot that sucker right into firrst!! ya know, cant get into first gear while sitting at a stop light half the time BUT it will slide right in at redline from a higher gear.. stupid lol. Hasnt even come close with my hurst unit.

BMWs have had similar issue in the past, where engine/trans mounts are in bad shape, under load torque the trans will twist or move some, then during the shift (clutching) the trans unloads and the driver will find himself banging the wrong gear. A friend did that on his E36 M3 at the strip, and bent most of his exhaust valves.
