Default CTS-V V1 new shifter option?

I was looking at some pictures of the GT500 TR6060 yesterday, looks exactly the same from outside.

CTS-V shifter:

GT500 shifter:

The shape of the tail housing is the same, as well with the connection on the shifting rod.

Make me wonder if that open us to their aftermarket shifter, like the MGW Gen II

What would be the benefits of going with an MGW unit like that over the cheaper Hurst option provided by Brian other than just looking prettier?

It get rid of the pendulum design and let the shift linkage work in one axis since it's sliding in a brass bushing. It remove more slop that the Hurst and other short shift that keep the pendulum design

That doesn't remove any more slop than the Hurst after my modifications to the bushings.

^This. Simply switching to this will help nothing.

I can say that doing all the mods possible to our stock shifter its pretty nice.

brings it up to about average, IMO. Worst set-up I've ever been saddled with.

It's no porche.....but my car shifts great.

In all:

Bronze shifter cup.
Home Depot mod
Bronze shift rod bushings. (Trans end)
Tig welded pin
CS rail bushings
Bronze bushings at shifter base
Hurst shifter
And lastly I removed the bushings at the rail mount towards the back to make it more solidly mounted. Yeah, it was originally done to clear the CS 8.8 alum drive shaft.....but I have left it that way and I like it.
With all this my car shifts great. As good as any t56 I have had my hands on anyway.

Oh, and a TDP stage 2 trans

nope. If there is nothing loose to vibrate, it doesn't vibrate.

Anyway I just got a message back from MGW.

it is a totally different attachment design ...it will not work but our 2010 camaro shifter works VERY VERY well. we are selling them like crazy right now
I'll try to speak to them on the phone to see what is so different.. maybe the shift rod connection, but that is not a big issue.

Not trying to knock down Brian improvement, I'm sure is shifters are great, especially over the shitty stock remote shifter, but I'm coming down from a direct mounted shifter and I'm really picky about shift feel. I have to change the location of my shifter anyway so I'm looking at the best option in term of shift feel. I'll have to do something like this for my swap:

Ever wonder why the corvette, which have the same transmission in a very remote position have such a good shifting feel?

It use a shifter box, like the MGW gen 2:

If you build a frame so the shifter bolts directly to the transmission, make it height adjustable so you can have some flexibility. Yo may need to raise or lower the transmission to align the driveshaft.

The V1 shifter design was basically borrowed for use in nearly all following TR6060 . The stock shifter has plastic which wears outout, and they is sooooo much fulcrum on this lever that tiny clearance translate to huge excessive movements at the ****.
1.)Replace the factory lever......
2.) Weld THE COUPLER that connects to the rod going inside the trans...that is the number two culprit. Make all that solid (zero play). You will realize at that point the shifter is not all that bad.
Those two things will improve the shift quality dramatically.

Are you sure they're not confusing the V1 and V2 shifters?

I am in the middle of swapping a t56 out of my old cts v and would like to find a shifter like above as well. Anyone know where I can get one. I think mine is too far back.
