NO Ignition Spark "Detail Thread" Pls help
Hey Guys ,thanks for giving my thread a read.
I'll try to be detailed in what and how iv tried to diagnosed the car.
Any ideas and opinions would greatly help.
2005 Cadillac CTS-V
LS6 5.7L
aprox 80k miles
-KnN intake
-MSD Ignition Coil Packs
-Magnaflow cat back exhaust
-hollowed out Cats.
-BMR Rear Trailing Arms
codes;
P0300: Diagnostic Code - Random Misfire
P0357: Ignition Coil G Primary/Secondary Circuit Malfunction
So i looked over the plugs, wires, and coils
and i saw that the wire for cylinder 7 aka "G" if I'm not mistaken was a little torn. So i yelled HA PROBLEM SOLVED! I replaced all the wires and plugs while i was at it, started her right up, and she kept misfiring....
Erased the codes , drove it around the block again , Blinking C.E.L came back on with the same codes.
Replaced the MSD Coil with on of the OEM coils, and still misfiring!
I ran the " Misfire Monitoring" on my scanner and cylinder 7 was missing continually every cycle ,and cylinder 3 , and i believe 4 where missing randomly.
So i turned the car back on and slightly pulled the wire off the coil (cylinder 7) to see if it would arch , and sure enough no arch and i didn't noticed a tone difference or rpm drop of course. So i moved on the next coil and
CLICK CLICK CLICK, everything went white for a second, and i though i had died....I'm sure i restarted my heart with an MSD coil Haha.
so at that point i thought maybe i should test if there is power going to the coil.
(Car running) I pulled the pig tail off the coil that was firing and put the test light in to it,
(locking clip facing up) there is 4 pins, the first two are grounds, the third should have power turning on and off per cylinder cycle and the fourth one should have solid power.
I test the pig tail on the coil that was NOT firing and there is completely no power the the third pin, but there is solid power to the fourth pin.
Now i'm thinking FUSES and RELAYS
Checked all the fuses and swapped around the ING 1/2/3 relays and no progress....
I NEED HELP!

First off, get rid of the MSD coil pacs.
Enough grief was caused by those things to the point they were discontinued.
I for one went through at least 12 (set of 8 plus at least 4 replacements).
POS that even MSD would not stand behind.

FYI they become intermittent when exposed to heat, like under the hood!

Update, still no spark after coil replacement
Update: so as I was in the middle of replacing the MSD coil packs for the OEM ones I noticed a few torn wires on the coil harness.(as seen in the pictures below)
Luckily I have a full set of oem coils and coil brackets that come with the harness...
Pluged everything back up,started the car and it was still missing..
I pulled the back plug from the coil to see if it was sparking and NOTHING NO SPARK!(cylinder 7) and I'm sure thee other cylinders iv mentioned are not sparking either.

If the ignition control pin is not getting power at the 4-pin connector, then it could be a defect in the coil harness (like Naf suggested), a defect in the main harness, or some strange PCM problem, as the PCM sends the signal for the ignition control. I would first check continuity for the ign. control wire in the coil harness, then if that doesn't work try checking the continuity for the same wire in the main harness (harder, but can be done). If neither of those work, then the PCM may be the issue, but it's probably a harness issue.
