Default 2004 CTS-V Turbo: First Day out 10.4 @ 139 mph.

Last Friday got the new combo out for the first time for some shakedown passes. Wasn't quite sure what to expect but I had been pleased with how the car had come together and how it was running for an unproved setup that has been both built and tuned by my friends and I.

It's definitely a bit trickier to launch than the blower combo, but over all I was able to best a 1.58 60' when I got it decent. Unfortunately I didn't make a full pass on that particular run. Just glad to know it's capable.

Anyhow, here is the best ET of the day, still on wastegate boost. As you can see, the launch was a struggle, but really looking forward to dialing in the next time out.

Nice work. I was curious to see what was next when you sold the Whipple. You did not fail to impress.

Sweet!

Mind if I ask what suspension you are running(springs, shocks, etc.)?

Thanks.

Thanks Bud! This is just the beginning man.

Merc. Suspension is fairly simple. I took a set of rear Ground control Sleeves off of my other V1 when I had it to try them, added a set of 750lb rear springs and left the stock shocks. Front is 100% stock with the sway bar removed. That said, I am pretty happy with the rear suspension, the front however is in need of some double adjustable shocks. I think they would help quite a bit to slow the rise and fall of the nose during the launch and keep weight planted on the rear once it has transfered. Of course, that's not going to benefit me until I really nail the launch down as much as possible with the current setup.

Car is 4,000lbs exactly with me in it BTW, for anyone curious. So it's no major stripper or anything.

That's great to hear you were running 9s without major suspension enhancements. I may be keeping the stock springs/shocks around to play with at the strip.

Thanks for the weight. I was about to ask. Have you just took out the basic stuff? Jack, spare tire, etc. I just put a solid Ford 9" in my clone V and was kind of wondering the overall weight of these cars.

You know way more about launching these cars than I do as I've never taken mine to the strip, but how would double adjustable shocks not benefit your launch right off the bat? Weight transfer is a huge part of launches, no?
