Default Parking brake retention spring

How in the world have you got the parking brake retention spring back on? Got about a popsicle stick worth of room between the parking brake shoes and axle flange. Also tried from the top. What's this magic secret I'm missing?

Make sure the brake is released. Push the tabs to pop the entire cable from the top. Pull the cable out of the spring as far as you can. Use locking pliers to hold the cable in that out position. Then you can work the cable into position and use a screw driver to pop it over the end. Put the top part back in and release the pliers.

Gotcha. Thought you meant on the back side where the cable hooks to the lever that controls the ebrake.
