Default CTS-V clutch/flywheel combo question

Just to clear things up, I can use an LS1/LS6 Spec clutch on a corvette flywheel with a katech spacer for the slave cylinder, or do i need a GTO flywheel? Are the GTO and the Corvette/LS1 flywheels the same? I have an LS1 Spec stage 3 clutch and am looking for a working setup to get the cts on the road.

Thank you,
Derek

I'd trust raven154 ... he knows.

Dang! A 5-1/2 year old thread. Maybe not a record, but impressive none-the-less.

The C5 has the same slave connection type as the f-body so no they will not fit. The C5 slave has a line that slides in and locks with a roll pin and the V's screws in so that is not interchangeable either. You should be able to just reuse the stock slave or you can get a C6 slave and measure. They are longer and you may not need a spacer at all and the C6 has the same connection type as the V. In any situation, you should measure to determine the proper shim size.

ok last question raven i promise so with stock slave and katech spacer the ls6 clutch setup should work? also do you think the ls6 clutch can hold the power+weight of the cts-v in stcok form?

It should but you should call Katech and ask them what clutch their spacer was built for. I have never used theirs or the LS6 clutch. I made my own spacer when I installed my LS7 setup then I moved on to the C6 slave myself. Then I moved on to a twin disk. I believe the LS6 would be enough clutch for a stock to very lightly modded car. I wouldn't put a lot of power in front of that clutch considering it came on a car that weighed ao much less.
