Default Looking to buy a 04 CTS-V

I was looking on the autotrader and one dealer has a 04 ctsv with about 500 miles on it, and they have it listed for 45,990. I check edmunds, and it gives me a retail price of 37,976 and nada gives a retail of 40,900 and KBB gives a retail of 45,800...

Any reason for such a variance from nada, and edmunds, to KBB...And granted I would never pay retail for a used car, but does this dealer really think they are going to sell a used 04 for almost what the new 06s go for, regardless of the mileage on it?

Any suggestions for me finding a reasonably priced 04 CTSV? Thanks!

Even 37k sounds about right. Even though 500 miles is not much, it should be considered used. It's been on their lot for over 90 days so they can take a loss on it.

They should be able to tell you that....I could POSSIBLY get that info as I know two buddies that work for a Cadillac dealership but I don't know what their capabilities are with other dealers.

I know it is low miles for an 04 but you can find a nice used one with some more miles for $32-35. A car is worth what you are willing to pay but I would target an 06 in a few months unless you find a good deal or just want one. That dealer will never sell that car for $40K+ as Chesrown (may be spelled wrong) in OH was selling 05s for $40K pratically new months ago. It would still be cheaper getting a car elsewhere and shipping it to ya or having fun driving it home.
Check the V forum for more info if you wish.

Well, Im looking for that 32k area... I dont think the 06s will be in that range anytime soon...I'm probably going to need to move on one in the next month or so. I defintely don't mind flying to get one and then driving it home although the wife thinks I'm nuts

well, if you fly make sure its 100%. Ask for service records, title etc.

personally, i understand your on a budget, which is why i got a 05 and not a 06, but would suggest waiting for an 06, get a good deal and sacrifice a bit.

The rear is a new one, and should be better than the 05 models...also, it probably wont be beat on which is a good thing...

good luck!! these are awesome daily drivers nd dont get discouraged...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isnt there a tsb for the 04-05s to get the new rear parts from the 06s because of the rear diff problems? I thought I was reading that on the caddy forums, but I could be misunderstanding what they were saying...

My 05 received an 06 rear.

I would sell the car for $38k. 8000 miles. 2 Brand New EMTs / 2 50%. Smells new.

Black on Rare Platinum Interior. Roof.

No, you are absolutely correct but i have also read of a few ppl who have taken the car in and have a huge problem with geting it...

i was just saying that you could avoid it all if you wish, its just that im right now in the middle of this and worry that the dealer might try to sneak one by me with in all honest, wont hold water with me...

Can someone please list all the parts that GM will replace/upgrade at the dealer.

Do they replace the whole "pumkin"(case) with a new and improved one?
-or-
do they just replace some of the internals?

When a rear is replaced "if you can get your dealer to do it" it is the whole thing and is the 06 rear. My dealer sucks and I'm done with that one so I will try another in the next month or two to see what kind of help I can get from them.

GM and the ASMs above the dealer SMs don't want to spend the warranty money to replace rears in my area as they are stating it is driver abuse but many have been able to get the new 06 diffs. I just need to keep working on it.

All in all they are great cars but I wouldn't want to drive this car out of warranty for fear of some big bills.

Hmm, interesting...I wonder if there are any dealers in my area that are willing to warranty the rear on a 04-05...problaby more willing to work on it if I actually bought the car from them I guess...

Cheapest I have been seeing is $34K but they have some miles on them.

There is a new silver 04 in Wyoming for $37K, 120 miles on it. I talked to the sale guy, but I'm more into the black ones.

My local Caddy dealer just sold an 05 with 3100 miles on it for $39000. Hope that helps a little with the market. I also love the black ones best.

Do you know the tsb#? Mine is going in the shop this coming week for the clutch tsb and I will ask about the diff while I am there.
