Cant Decide
Hi all!
Im looking for a new/used car has that Oh **** feel and look..Im pretty sure I narrowed it down to a 04-07 CTS-V or a 2007+ Bmw 335i. I can pick up a 2004 Cts V with a Magnuson Supercharger for ~31 grand with 42,000 miles, is this a good offer? How does the V compare to a 335i? Handling? Performance?
I currently Have a 2007 Trailblazer SS which I tuned, and a 07 stang Gt (shh all u haters)..lol..

Seems a little high. I've seen Maggied V's with fewwer miles for less on Ebay. Actually, check out the "V's for sale thread below for an LS3 conversion '05 V for $30k!!! Now that would be awesome! It's built and for sale by a very reputable Texas shop.

I would Love to get a V already modded for a very reasonable price, but the only thing i think i would be concerned about is parts breaking. Since it wouldn't be warrantied right? Since its got engine mods done..etc? I could be wrong. Can you buy an extended warranty and everything be covered?
And also how does a stock 335i compare to stock V?
I live in NJ if that matters
Thanks

I've had both...
I love the mid range tq delivery of the 335; along with the infamous BMW handling and braking. Superbly defined vehicle.
The CTS-V though I LOVED. It had gobs of power, which rarely could be safely put to the ground without extensive modifications. The interior was "cheap" but the I'm a sucker for a noisy V8. The lines of the CTS-V are more contrasting then most cars so it gives you a "love it or hate it" style.
My BMW was left stock but my CTS-V had some goodies - Maggie Supercharger, cam, headers, Corsa exhaust, UUC Shifter, Rear support cradle, HRE Wheels, etc, etc, etc.

Best of luck in your purchase.

Its a touch decision I think the V looks alot better then the 335i, But im not sure which is faster stock vs stock..Whichever is faster will probably be the deciding factor.
Although If i could find a V already modded for a decent price i would def go with that. What would i need to look out for tho? I heard smomething with the rear is bad??

You can search around for the issues with the rear. Certain years (04-05) had a different rear than the 06 model. Most were replaced at dealer cost with an 06 rear which was a little stronger.
The rears are the same from the standard CTS and can't handle the power especially given the violent nature of wheel hop in these cars. I think a member of LS1tech just completed an AWESOME CNC reenforced rear that should handle 800/800.
I would say the CTS-V is faster and much more fun modified than a 335i. Keep in mind the V8 is a NA V8 w/ a large range of proven aftermarket performance products.

The warranty will depend on your relationship with your dealer. I'm probably going to extend my warranty here shortly. The only thing I'm not expecting them to warranty would be the H/C. But I'm more worried about the rear and electronics.
A modified V definately has an in your face look and sound to them.
I'm still trying to decide if I want to sell her to downsize in cars. By the way, I also have a 06 TBSS running 12.9's now.

I was playing around with a 335i a few weeks ago on the highway..... I hurt his feelings badly. ( I'm far from stock however )
I followed him on the on ramp and we bumped them off a few times from around 50 mph.... I put a couple of bus lengths on him with out even getting out of 4th gear. Nothing to brag about, but it got my adrenaline going. My fiance' thought the guy gave up....LOL.
I would test drive them both....there is so much more potential with the V. However, there is a piggy back made for the 335i that is a huge bang for the buck. Do some research and decide for yourself. Get on some BMW forums also and see what those guys have to say.....
