Default RWHP possibility from CTS-V (Gen 2)....no internal engine work....?

I searched and can't really find exactly what Im looking for......

A cam change is ok....thats a must to do.

Just bolt-ons, exhaust, tune....

E85 fuel....

Can a 4L80E tranny fit into these year CTS-Vs...?

Thanks.

The factory internals are pretty stout, but it comes down to how you want to build your particular setup.

People have been shoe-horning 4L80's into the higher horsepower V's, no problem there, but also not a plug and play item.

The 6l90's can also be built to be pretty stout as long as your not trying to break the 1000hp barrier. Why give up the gears if you don't have too?

What does it take to get the 4L80E to work.......

And what kind of RWHP can it make with just a cam change, Tune, Exhaust, bolt-ons and pulleys.....?

Why post a Camaro ZL1 modded engine....is it the identical engine and SC'er as the Gen II CTS-V.....?

If so, 700 RWHP is great, that would satisfy me for a CTS-V if I get one.

But what needs to be done to get say....800 RWHP....? Without nitrous, without Meth. Using full time E85.

seriously , why post a zl1 engine, its the same damn thing in the v2 cts v . You would need a set of heads to get to 8 and a smaller pulley .

Thats what I was asking....is it the same exact engine....

Which heads would do it...?

How does the 6L80E hold up to 800 RWHP...after being fully built with every aftermarket part possible?

OR....is it just better to put a 4L80E into it...?

800rwhp in a V is a ticking time bomb IMO. Plenty of guys just under/over 700hp and are living just fine. About 750rwhp things start to get sketchy. You could get close to 800 with what was listed and heads, but why not go with the forged bottom end as insurance, if you're shooting for those goals?

Just spoke to my builder about a 364ci, fully forged. 10.0 cr. Full time E85. Very good heads....???

How much power can the sc'er make with this set up?

And...can the 6L90E tranny be built to handle 800+ RWHP.....and live a long time?

Also....100% Street Car. Will only be on street radials....never at the drag strip doing hard launches.

Mine makes 727hp/727tq with the mods in my sig on 93 pump. Get with LT1z (Matt) on ctsvowners.com or BTR (Brian Tooley Racing) if you want a cam that's proven to work great with these cars.

Speaking of Trans...the 6l90 comes underfilled with fluid from the factory. Add 1 qt and definitely have a PROVEN tuner tune that sucker. I recommend Pat G to tune the trans.

So what would you need to do if you wanted 800 RWHP....?

What transmission mods have you done to your factory 6L90E....?

I really like the CTS-V...just a mean looking luxury car...I'm figuring maybe get one (2012) or get a Mercedes E63 AMG. I know someone with a complete Wiestec SC'er kit for one that I can buy and it'll make about 800 RWHP. E63 is cheap....around $28,000 (2007). Either want that or the CTS-V at 800 RWHP. CTS-V will cost more in the end by about $15,000.

If I ever went E85, I could gain about another 40hp or so and that would put me close to 800hp....but Im not a fan of E.

Trans is stock and its not missing a beat at all.

Thats good to hear about the stock tranny holding up to 700+ RWHP.

What can be upgraded in the stock tranny to make it stronger and more reliable? Anyone I can contact to get a price for one of these trannys that knows them well and upgrades them?

I suppose just go to: ctsvowners.com

With a proper tune, you wont find many breaking. On blower alone, I don't see you having an issue with it. Circle D makes alot of parts for them. Just make sure you service it like you would any other toy.

You're making this sound more like something I want to do. 750-800 RWHP with a modded tranny and it looks like I'll be ok with just a street car on street radials doing the occasional highway hard pull. Never a drag track on slicks doing hard launches.

Thanks.
