Default STS-V or CTS-V for more performance?

I'm trying to decide between the sts or cts, I like the shape and size of the sts-v over the cts-v but really like the LS series engines instead of the Northstar. Why didn't they put the LS series engine in the sts, I know the northstar engine of late is much better than the one pulling all the head bolts out but can't compare the the already proven LS engines with the endless supply of aftemarket parts available. How much power will the Northstar block handle, (reliable power). Which ever one I decide on it's coming apart and getting completely gone through,(pistons, rods heads or head work on the northstar and camshaft or cams.) Obviously easier and cheaper on the ls engine.

I don't know if anyone has pushed a northstar block to the limits. Obviously the parts are going to be harder to find/make, more expensive, and you'll kind of be experimenting with your $$$.

If you're going to go through the motor why not get the sts and do a lsx swap? Wiring won't be fun but at least you'll be unique.

Default lsx swap

That's exactly what I was thinking. Does anyone know how close the sub-frame will come to bolting in a sts from a cts?

Another big consideration is stick vs. auto. I enjoy my M6, but also do not drive it daily. If you have a long commute in traffic, the auto may be your ticket. From a performance standpoint, the LS6/LS2 is a winner without challengers.

I wonder if you could fit a 4l60e in the sts tunnel?

I have seen very, very few V1s run 13.1 or 13.2 in stock form, and the reason is, 'Its a biotch to launch'.

The transmission tunnel is what I'm going to check on this weekend. I have access to both cars to put up on the lift to do some measuring. The sub-frame shouldn't be a problem. Fed/Ex dropped off the RHS block yesterday and I have the new crank pistons and rods ready to balance so I can't wait to get started. Thanks for the input.

I'd get the V2. And if I was picking between a V1 and an sts V,...i'd get the sts,as it feels more of a stable ride,.. The reason why they could not use the northstar in the cts is because the motor was far too tall.

If it was me, i'd sell the northstar blower,..do some custom radiator work, and do a custom turbo setup...and have a sick *** big body car.

LSX motors will accept mods better but,..if your a hardcore mod person,.....the northstar is without a doubt capable of handling mods,....800hp is attainable with turbos and cams.
