Default I expected a whoopin and thats what i got. 87 GN vs V

My brother just got his car back today after getting a new Precision Billet turbo put on and retuned. Most of his mods are in the intro to the vid. I knew id get walked but just wanted to see by how much before the cam goes in tuesday and its tuned for the cam/long tubes and spray. Should be a different outcome the end of next week.

BTW this run was with me on motor with just CAI and Kooks 1 7/8 untuned. No spray obviously since it hasnt been tuned with the headers. About a 50 roll with him getting the jump since i decided to go into second at the last second.

Im untuned with headers so im guessing about 350hp/345tq now off the bottle. Hes about 425hp/600tq. His car was breaking up bad he said so he has to make a few changes because before the new billet turbo he wasnt getting any detonation. So hes gonna try upping the Meth and see how it goes. Its a solid low 11 second car at around 118-120. Its definetly a dig car though, its just plain nasty..... by far the sickest car ive been in from a dig...

Nice run, I guess you will have to put up with his bragging this weekend. Just a thought, roll him at 40mph, not 50, as would work better for you, and remind him he owes you a jump at the start.
Good luck for the next round,,,

That roll speed is exactly right. I have now beaten a friend of mine that has a 2008 BMW 335i TT (tuned 385 hp/425 ft-lbs, I think those are the numbers...) a handful of times now if I start in second gear and we go from 30 mph or 40 mph to about 100 mph. At 100 mph I am only about 1/2 to 1 car length ahead, but if we raced longer I will pull him badly.

Most guys don't believe me that my GM product can beat a beautiful Bimmer, and even the my friend always makes excuses about why he lost (missed a gear which is funny because it's a paddle shift, just had a new turbo installed under warranty, and last month had a new fuel pump installed -- the BMW reliability apparently is lacking on this particular car, lol).

Point is, our cars are geared just right to be beasts from a roll.

Just some info I saved through the years:

Stock 3.73 CTS-V

1st 2.97 46 mph @ 6500
2nd 2.07 66 mph @ 6500
3rd 1.43 96 mph @ 6500
4th 1.00 137 mph @ 6500
5th 0.84 163 mph @ 6500
6th 0.56 163 mph @ 4300

60 mph = 1600 rpm
70 mph = 1866 rpm
80 mph = 2133 rpm

Yea i prefer 45 rolls but i wasnt really planning on running him I was just gonna get a vid of him taking off but I decided to give it a try anyways from 50 it was either 2nd or 3rd and if i had any chance to keep up at that speed it wa 2nd. 45 and 65 rolls are the best for me. Ill make sure to post a vid of the rematch, i was just glad my 200 dollar clearance sony handycam was able to get a pretty decent night video.

about 425rwhp and 600 rwtq maybe a little more. Thing has some sick torque numbers. But its by no means a dyno car, it runs hard.

I have a bone stock CTS-V and a Gn pulled out onto the 4 lane yesterday morning..I heard that wastegate blowing off and I knew I might had bitten off more than I could chew. We hit a run from 45 and I pulled him by about 3 up to around 100 mph.....next was from 55 and he had a lot more boost loaded up, pulled me by one length and held it to 140...I felt pretty good overall and the old timer in the GN gave me 2 thumbs up and a big ole grin.

Probably very minimal work done, with just a one size up from stock turbo, injectors and downpipe the cars put down like 300rwhp/4xxrwtq. Dont ever try one from a dig if the guy can drive because you might as well start in 6th gear.

Thanks, mine should sound better by the end of the week since its getting cammed tuesday. My brother always runs an open 3" dump, its amazing how much faster the turbo spools when its open, when its closed its about as quiet as a V is bone stock.

Nice we have been hinting around the idea of heads and cam. We would love 450 WHP... trying to get rid the wheel hop first though...

Find out if anyone in your area is hosting any Standing 1-Mile Events, once you do one, you will be hooked.
