Default Rear Tire Size???

With stock wheels...what size tire are you running in the rear? I'm getting new tires tomorrow and can't decide. Thanks

Some have run as wide as 275s, but that size is not really intended for an 8.5" wheel. Personally, I'd stick with 265s or narrower to maintain good tire wear. Minimum for a 275 is a 9" wheel.

Thanks. Would that be a 265/40/18 or 265/45/18?

I think that may depend on what tire you select. Best to check the specs of the tire through the manufacturer's website. I was going back and forth about sizes when my car needed tires, and just went with stock size Hankook V12s. I don't drive aggressively on the street, so the stock size was good enough for me. The Hankooks grip quite well, and are very reasonably priced. The shorter the sidewall, the wider the wheel may have to be to support the tire. If the sidewall is too tall, then you lose cornering grip and steering response since the sidewall moves more. If you're going in a straight line, then it probably doesn't matter.

I've been running 275s in the rear for the past 3 years.

245/40 18 front
275/35 18 rear

Use this, http://www.1010tires.com/tiresizecalculator.asp

Ideally you want to get as close to the stock diameter of wheel and tire as possible, to eliminate any issues with Traction Control.
