I am starting to think this may be a scam. It's posted up on cars.com for $12,900 but the dudes phone number goes to fax and he has not responded to my email yet. I asked a lot of important questions and asked for more pics which would scare off a scammer quickly. I would also imagine someone on this site knows or has seen this car before as well.

Yeah with those types of mods, condition, and mileage that is a stupid low asking price. I'm guessing it's a scam. Check on the other forum. Somebody on there may know whos car it is.

Unless they say they put the wrong price and it's really 22k then I'd walk away from the scam. They might have just made a mistake.

Yeah I saw it pop up last night and my first thoughts were scam. If anyone knows of a high mileage V in good condition for around $15k I will be ready to buy tomorrow.

one thing it could be is it might not have a clean title.

when i was looking around for a V, i found one on ebay.

2006 Silver with around 35k miles. The first time it was listes, it was $22,500. The second list, the guy dropped it to $15,000. And when looked again about a week a go, the car was listed a third time for $13,500. The problem was the title was classified as rebuilt/salvage. car looked very straight but it is really hared to finance a car the has that title on it. i almost bought it, but when i talked to my finance company, they would require atleast 20% down inorder to finance it, and my APR would have been about 4% higher then what i am at now.

It is on eBay too, or at least it was. IIRC he was asking for a lot more than $12.9k.

Yeah I can't find it, but it was $20k plus if I'm not mistaken. I caught a scammer on cars.com before so tread lightly. The guy was trying to sell a Jeep Cherokee that the real owner had sold months before. Good luck finding a V in that price range, there's one in here asking mid-teens but it has 129k miles. Hope you get what you're looking for. By the way, if that turns out to be legit be sure to let us know. The easiest way to find that out is to call the guy. If he won't answer the phone number on the listing or return your calls, that usually shows him to be a scammer.

That exact car was on eBay (might still be) last week! I'm on my phone right now so it's not easy for me post it up but if you can find it on eBay check out the sellers other items. He's selling a set of HRE's in a seperat auction with pictures posted of them on the car. That is when I recognized it. It was for the same time I was looking for my V for around $22k. The eBay listing was for $28k I believe and he wants something like $6k for the wheels.

I just verified... do a search for completed listings on eBay. You'll see it listed for $28k.

That is funny stuff. On the bmw forums there is a legit sale ad for a guy selling a widebody m3 and it has popped up in multiple scam ads over the last month or too. Oh well, I have been pm'ing the guy selling the 129k one on this forum and waiting for some more pics. It might be what I am looking for if it is still in good shape.

I was working with him and the bank this morning and got a pm this afternoon saying it is potentially sold today to a local. Checked on another on cars.com and it was definitely a scam. Something about living in Spain and the car is in a shipping container in Washington. Have fun selling that. Might be going back to a BMW now for ease of purchasing. lame
